    Your right!!

But its her son! Kid played JV one year. Every JV game got covered with pictures of "Her" son. Heres Joey in the batters circle. Heres Joey batting a ball. Heres Joey scoring a point. Im serious.

We never got a Varsity game covered. Again thankfully. We brought Joey up to a varsity game just to see if he could help us out. Guess what? The whole sports department shows up at the game. Mom and Dad.

After his first ab he K's looking. He comes back to the dugout and says. "Hes throwing too hard for me". (82 mph at best). Well back to the JV and now on to a pro farm pond bass fishing career.

I really hope they read this. Many people have called the paper and complained. Nothing ever changes. I just laugh it off and tell people if you dont like it dont buy it.

Local Rocky Mount Sports Briefs Excerpt

What a big day it is today for the crossroads of Porky Mutt, N.C. Today the local high school built in 1750 will have it's first ever college signee. This athlete Joey Pat Moy VIII comes from a long line of underachievers BUT his family owns all the schools, all the fields, all the sports stores and the local paper. So Mayor Dave Hairbrush is shutting down the town for the day so that we can all attend the signing at the Farm house. This kid is really something special. He has set the school record in Fly fishing, Kite flying and Bird watching and is known for being able to kill a Butterfly with one hand. Falcon University is getting a real star. (see back page for less important news)

Local softball team finishes in 3rd place

Yep! Local All Star Girls softball team finishes in 3rd place. Big picture in the paper. Long story. Thanks for the following sponsors. Etc etc. Oh did I mention in the story that they went on to say there were 4 teams in the tourney?

Its good to hear that our home town rag is not the only paper like this. But honestly how good is the HS baseball sports coverage in the big papers? Not very good around here. I would really like to read some stories about players and teams around the state. Maybe I will start Perfect Game North Carolina. No I can not use Perfect Game. How about - "These Boyz Rock". How does that sound Braves?

Oh for the days of Mark Aumann, Patrick Brannon, Tom Ham, Bob Williams, Bill Barnhardt, Jim Dunlap and Jeff Gluck at the Telegram. Now these guys covered high school sports!--from the big 4-A high school to the smallest of the private schools. They were on a first name basis with every coach and the majority of the fans in the area. High school sports was top priority at the Telegram from the 60's when I was a small child and devouring the Evening Telegram's sports pages daily till the mid ninties. They covered every high school in Nash, Edgecombe and some Halifax Co schools. Nowadays you see almost full pages on the Hurricanes and Mudcats and our high school, rec leagues and American Legion teams are all but neglected.

The Stretchlon Sports Show on Sunday nights covers more high school sports in the Twin County area in it's hour to hour and a half than the Telegram does in a week.
