For the fans coming from Charlotte you will see one of the prettiest settings for high school football in our state. The bleachers are rock hard and little tough on the roids though. Stop and eat in Hickory, Connelly Springs/Icard are not known for their fine dining.

but hey, if youre constipated, it might be a good place for ya.

I agree wholeheartedly....For a field that is of natural grass, Danny Williams Field at East Burke Stadium is maintained so immaculate. The grounds crew has a tremendous attention to detail and always looks perfect - even in foul weather.

If Im not mistaken, I believe East Burke Stadium is the largest on-campus HS stadium in NC. Ive seen as many as 15,000 pack EBS for Fat Friday...Its a great facility. And yes, bring some cushioning, the concrete gets a lil rough after the 1st quarter.

And as for a choice for a restaurant on your way in, I recommend Butch's BBQ in Valdese, good stuff.

    Good luck to East

I am from Newton-Conover and would like to see all the local teams make it! East Burke spanked us early in the year and it's good to see all the support from EB fans at NC as well. Great crowd, great fans!

Go Wataga, East Burke, Hickory, and Newton-Conover!

Good luck to EB. I have always loved going there to watch a game.

Any update on the Indy deal or is it just going to quietly go away?

Ive not heard any thing yet; if i were from South Meck I would be very upset. Reading the WBTV article it sounds like he broke the rules but why no responce? The only thing it could be is how many in a row.

You may want to stop at Granny's Kitchen. When you get off I-40 turn left and you'll see Granny's on the right. Tex's Fish Camp is off Hwy. 70 in Hildebran. If you want fish it's good. The best bet is to eat at the stadium. We have a large variety. Hamburgers, Pizza, Chick-fil-a. It's all good.
