Didn't Crest get slammed for something like this a year or two ago. As I remember, their whole season was forfeited, or something like that.

I am not responding mad about not getting a forfeit it is just crazy to me how this is fair to any team who has played the big "I" this year. It does not matter if he started or who lied to who it is just the fact he should not be there. When they gave him the boot you are admitting guilt by someone. Precedence was set a couple weeks ago with South Meck who is in the same county as Indy. Maybe the situation is a little different but wrong is wrong I think. It would have been bad for the ones who have worked all year but life is not alwayes fair to you but it will make you stronger. What comes around goes around lets all just hope that the fat lady is singing loud on them in Icard friday.

As a past player and father of one of this years East Burke players I know our boys are ready to play football Friday night. I also know that Independence will know they have been in a Football game after it's over with. We don't want a handout we want to prove we belong in this game. I can also guarantee all our players live in East Burke School District with their legal guardian. Personally I appreciate the support shown from our rival schools in the NW4A and in the area. Hopefully after this year folks in Charlotte and the rest of the state will set up and take notice of the talent West of I-85. Good luck to Watauga, Newton Conover, Hickory, Shelby, Pisgah, Asheville and Lincoln. Make the West proud.

Yes they did. Crest was using the student handbook that listed the requirments for a player to play. The "rules" changed after merger. Nobody ever sent the info to the coaches. The Crest and Burns handbooks had the same info as did the CC schools website. The coaches got a back dated memo after the fact. The old super wanted it to go away (he was pres of the NCHSAA and interviewing for a job in his home county) and it did. Crest had the info to fight it, but they we're told to let it go.
Coach Kirby was even going on Football Friday Night to talk about it, but the schoolboard said no.

The player in question was eligible in every county that surrounds Cleveland County.

To me this is the problem. To many interpertations of the law. Now Indy is playing and South Meck is sitting at home. The South Meck kid is staying with grandparents, the Indy kid is staying at some Joe off the streets house. I don't wish any forfeits on anyone becasue I saw first hand what it did to the kids at Crest, but the field isn't level.

Yes smash that was a hard time for the Crest kids and coaching staff and you hate to hear of any team having to go through it but it just seems to me its a double standard when Indy gets the pass.I have often wondered how Indy has been able to maintain their dominance for so long now since this has come to light my suspicions have been verified.Only private schools can maintain the level of dominance that Indy has achieved because they play by a different set of rules than does public schools.Seems kinda funny though that when there is a little proof of wrong doing at Indy that it is dismissed and downplayed:icon_bs::icon_bs::icon_bs::icon_bs:

    Charlotte Hates NW4A stadiums

Well well once again we have a charlotte school coming up to face a nw4a team at their place.. for those of u who have the chance to look back in the record books.. independence made a trip to taylorsville when chris's brother cj was QB and AC beat them ... my senior year olympic came up here in 04 and we shut them up pretty good too after they disrespected us during warm ups.. all i heard last friday night was people on sports talking bout how Indy is back and how they wont have a problem.. Delano Little was only one giving EB respect but thats fine.. cause we'll show them just like Nick Saban said this week. "Doing things the right way comes before winning".. and up here in these parts.. we do things the right way! SMACK EM IN DA MOUTH WILD BUNCH!

The difference between the Independence situation and the S. Meck(and Crest too for that matter)one is that the kid flat out lied to Independence. The other two situations, the school did something that technically was wrong. In Independence's case, they did the technically right thing but it was based on false information. In the eyes of the NCHSAA, for some reason, whether or not the school was technically wrong is the only factor in determining whether or not to force them to forfeit.
