8 nonconference games... one with East Burke and one with Draughn. That's 10. Freedom usually only plays 10 games. But a nonconference with McDowell would be nice. Hell, it's the only team FHS beat this year- they may wanna try to keep them on their schedule!

Does anyone know what conference Draughn will be in their first year, '08-'09. Since realignment don't happen until '09-'10.

Will they be able to field a varsity team?

I don't know. I'd assume they might stay an independent and play mostly CVAC teams.

AC, Hibriten, Watauga, South Caldwell, Freedom, Patton, FT Foard, St Stephens and Hickory will compromise 1 combo 3A-4A league....that is in the first draft.

that only allows teams in this conference 2 non league games.....this really isnt fair to any of these teams...

a better scenario is to put AC with Iredell schools and Hibriten in a league with Freedom, Patton Watauga, and South.

By my count this is not correct. The league as proposed has 9 teams which means that each school will have 8 league games in football. Most schools play the endowment game which means that you will schedule 3 non league games. Putting Alexander with teams in Iredell County is not possible unless you are referring to Mooresville and Lake Norman which are 4A. They have been placed in what is mostly a Mecklenburg County League which is much closer to them than Taylorsville. Also you mention that Hibriten should go in the league with Freedom, Watauga, and South Caldwell, take a look at the proposal because THEY ARE in that league.

Looks alot better than what we are accustomed to. If we have to many conference games, send Freedom to the Mtns. with AC Reynolds.

The split league is the way to go. If all the 4A schools would stay together then the NW4A would still include AC Reynolds and add TC Roberson. McDowell was a victim of Roberson going 4A. When Reynolds had another 4A school with them in Buncome County, the changes started happening. The proposal makes a lot of sense. The Catawba county schools are already howling about having to travel to Watauga but in truth they complained about taking a trip to Hibriten.
