Some girls are going to be upset!

There are still plenty kids swinging that red/black rt. My DD has one and there are several kids on her school team that has one. I have also seen several of the old Miken Intensity and Impulse bats with the old stamp.

Was Anderson thinking of doing a fastpitch version of the slowpitch bat?

that was my understanding, they worked on this for over two years and were at the production stage when this started to unfold. after dec 31st, all bats must have the asa 2004 stamp on them to be legal. all the bats that were grandfathered in with the 2000 stamp will be illegal.

    This is correct..
2000 stamped bats cannot be used in ASA or NCAA play after 12/31/07

I think in a few years people are going to be surprised at the amount of altered bats in youth baseball and girls fastpitch softball. I play mens slowpitch and I don't think there is a team at the higher levels that does not have a shaved bat. I believe it started with this group and has worked it's way down to youth ball. There are a few bats out there (composite)
that can be shaved for a unbelievable performance improvement - The one most noticible is the easton "stealth" in little league. ASA does realize this and is taking steps to implement new standards for testing.

Altering bats: Softball, yes; baseball, I doubt it.

    Guys,
I follow kids' baseball in addition to being involved in slo-pitch, and I've seen no evidence, none, that dads have been rolling or shaving their kids' composite bats. And I think I know what to look for.

Train, and others, on what basis--other than guesswork-- can you state that bat alteration is happening in kids' baseball?

...and by altering your kids bat....

...you, coach or parent, are admitting that a kid can't possibly get by on his/her own? Thats how I see it! Try spending time in the cage or in the back yard on a tee, or soft toss, whatever, and let the kids REAL bat do his talking! There is no substitute for good old fashion hard work.
