    McDowell-76
    TC Roberson-54

Roberson lead 5-2 then McDowell went on a 16-0 run and never looked back.
The Lady Titans played all their reserves the last 5 minutes of the game.
    Kurie Washington-24 pts.

This was a good test for the lady titans. As Freedon Sball knows Roberson has a good team. They are tall and can shot the 3's. But the McDowell press and transition game really wore them down.

A good test for the little girls. St. is a pretty solid team and games like this are what these girls need before conference begins. Could see some of them get a little lost as St. Stephens made a run but they were able to regroup and get the win. Better get used to it now because come conference time they will see a lot of this

The Lady Titans looked great tonight. At one time during the 4th quarter they were up by 30 points. I thought we would win, but to win by that big of a margin says alot about these girls. The refs didn't want this game to end. They probably called 20 fouls in the last 4 minutes of the game. Next up for McDowell is Mitchell on friday night.

If the McDowell Lady Titans can play ball like the way they did tonight, some special things are going to happen this season. I was extremely impressed by the Lady Titans defensively tonight...they forced TC Roberson into a lot of turnovers which lead to easy transition baskets. In particular Autumn Ward had a breakout game scoring 17 points including (5) 3-pointers. 3 of those 5 came during that spurt in the half which put McDowell firmly in control.

I'm also very encouraged in the play of some of our bench players. Jami Medford may be the most improved player on the team. Xandi Gellman is a good weak-side post player used to offset the pressure on Ebonique Hamilton. I am also impressed with the overall effort of Molly Brooks inside. I look for Molly to make some big plays in big games this year. The final thing that impressed me was the Lady Titans ability to put a dagger in TC Roberson. A 10-2 run at the beginning of the 4th quarter sealed the victory.

Overall this was an impressive win against a very good team.

East Burke lost a tough one last night to Forestview.

    79-75 in 2 OT

A game they could have won if they hit freethrows down the stretch. But, a very hard fought game by the Cavs and an improvement from last week in Gastonia, loosing by 15.

Their record is 1-3. Not to make excuses but they have played a tough early schedule.

Game 1 Newton Conover- A game they deffinately should have won. But NC is a good team. they returned 5 starting seniors from a western regional team last year...lost by 3 record 0-1

Game 2 @ Forestview- Just got out played and out coached..They just didn't play to win. But, this is a team that returned 5 starting seniors from a team that went 27-4 last year and is now ranked 4th in the Sweet 16...lost by 15 record 0-2

Game 3 @ Newton Conover- Everyone played to win this game and they showed what game 1 should have been...won by 10 record 1-2

Game 4 Forestview- The girls played a great game... they just fell a little short. But, deffinately the best game of the year for the Cavs. A good game to build on.....I think things will deffinately turn for the better from here on.

Like I said these are not excuses...just the facts IMO.
