Sadly that is true. It is unimaginable how far this field has fallen into disrepair. Water line repairs this late fall with no way to grow grass without water at this time has only made a bad situation worst. Nearly 50% of the outfield grass is gone.

You can also remove Southern Durham completely from tehe top 25.... maybe even the top 100... This is another sad example of a field in total disrepair.

I have not seen it, but wouldn't be afraid to predict that the Rocky Mount HS field has risen to at least the top 10 on the list.

any HS's have an artificial turf surface?

Pardon my bias: I've seen about a dozen of the fields on the list. North Davidson's complex has to be placed ahead of them.
    • Setting is about as pastel as it gets
    • Seating is primo with the elevated horseshoe bowl
    • Infield tops most college surfaces (smooth, razor edges, no lips)
    • Scoreboard equal to most D2 schools
    • Indoor hitting facility

You must know Pat Smith, although he is very troubled by the lack of water.

    Wakefield High School

Wakefield High School is now in the process of building a clubhouse onto the third base dugout I'm told. It will have coach's office, locker room, showers, bathrooms for public and players, plus a video and meeting room. This is being done with money raised in honor of Steven George a player from Wakefield killed in a car wreck in 2006.

Steven was an outstanding pitcher and this is a nice way to honor for him. His parents are wonderful people.

Ragsdale has just gotten better with covered and lighted batting cage, bigger dugouts, a warning track and a plush stand of grass. having a few greens superintendents as volunters helps.
