According to Ed Hall, Wakefield Head Coach (and UNCC asst coach Brandon Hall's dad), this is part of their improvements. Wakefield is an excellent facility, one that I highly rate!!

    dugouts

West Carteret has big dugouts 32 by 22. Concrete pad out front with the 30'' net fence and poles. We have the two tiered bench in the dugout. And the backside of the dugout is our varsity locker room. 15 stained wooden lockers (hand built), stools, flat screen tvs, dish network, surround sound, x-box, guitar hero (if you haven't played don't because its addictive), and coaches office.

when mrs. legionpost gets unhappy i have been known to spend some time there.

    PS at SJ

Yes, recall when Pat Smith was at S. Johnston and he really pampered that field. A daily chore for players was to sweep dirt off the edge of the outfield grass.

Are dugouts really necessary to be considered one of the nicer high school facilities around? From a player’s prospective that is the least of my worries when I’m out there playing. Some of the nicest fields I’ve every played on have had what I would call below average dugouts. East Mecks dugouts (I’ve only used the visitors) feel like they were built for 9 guys no coaches included, but they have an extremely nice field and playing surface.
I truly believe a schools field is a large reflection on their program. It takes a lot of work by too many people to mention to have a top notch field. It seems like the better teams always have the nicer field, and I know this is not always the case, every school has limited to resources, some obviously have less to work with than others.
If I had my choice as to what field I could play on, personally I’d choose AK. There will never be a game on that field when it’s not in perfect shape. The infield will be edged, the grass will be cut, the dugouts will be clean, and you will be in an atmosphere that baseball was meant to be played in.

Both of Coach Hall's sons now coach at UNCC, Brandon and Brett. Brett has left William and Mary.
