what happens when you get caught with an altered/shaved bat?

talking to some people out west, the penalty is severe. player caught with this is banned for year and if they're team bats, coach is banned permanetly and team disbanned. appartenly this is going on quite a bit out there. its gotten to the point that bats are being confiscated and sent out to be checked for altering on a regular basis. mostly is mens softball, but now its drifted into girls fastpitch.

so my question to the ASA, NSA, USSSA, etc leaders, what is the penalty for player/coach and if you confiscated a bat, where would you send it??? if you suspected a team of using altered bats, what procedure/directive would you use to confiscate the suspected altered bats??

    Altered bat

The best I can make of the ASA code, the player is ejected from the game and/or tournament. I would venture to say that ASA would then proceed to find out what was altered and by whom.

Anyone found altering bats with an ASA trademark on them WILL be taken to court by ASA. There has been at least one case of this with a six figure judgement plus court costs in favor of ASA.

Here's the link to the details: http://www.softball.org/about/certified_equipment.asp
