Softball season is less than two months away and fastly approaching. I was wondering, who are going to be the top teams the state this upcoming season. I'm relatively new to the softball world, so I don't know much. I hear Central Cabarrus, Butler, Alexander Central are usually pretty good. Who are some others and what are some predictions for the upcoming year.

East Surry, Pender, and North Moore should be very strong at the 1A level.

East Rowan, West Rowan, North Davidson ( Coach Lambros will always field a good team even if they were all freshmans), Southwest Randolph.
From the east 4a West Johnston will be my pick to make it to the big dance.

Not so sure about those 3??

All 3 of these schools my have coaching staff issues. New coach at Pender, North Moore possible new coach(if they're lucky!!!), East Surry(who knows what's going on there either???)

Players are still all great at these schools, but the coaches are crucial to success at the creek anyhow!! Some of the 1A school divisions are a cake walk.

If ES's coach is there I would say they take it at this point in 1A for 08'. If not their may not be any of these three teams even at the creek.??????

I think Hopewell will be the best that have been in years. AC will be one of the top teams also.

    Thoughts

Butler lost some bigtime talent and has a new coach but will still be tough! Their pitching and bats will keep them in games. Hopewell will be very good, Weddington should be good again, CC has a good core returning, Audrey Kell and North Davidson, Central Davidson, West Rowan, East Rowan will be good, Ledford has got some talent and a good young pitcher coming on to help their cause. Enka I am sure will be tough again, SW Randolph will be tough but this could be a wide open year in NC.

Yes, coaching changes tend to hurt a team, but East Surry is going to be strong no matter who is at the helm. I will throw another team into the mix...Jordan Matthews High School. They will put up some runs and have great pitching. JMs pitcher struck out 12 ES hitters last year in the playoffs, but lost 1-0. JM will be better offensively in my opinion and the pitching is back and she will be better than she was last year. The coaching changes will make things a little more interesting though.

Has a team had a recent coaching change? (ES), I haven't heard of anything.

Who are the top teams in the west and then who are the top teams in the east. I've heard Butler, Central Cabarrus, Alexander Central, Hopewell, Weddington, Enka, North Davidson, Rowan Teams. I've also heard Freedom has a very good program and a excellent coach. Lets hear some more names.

As already mentioned, look for West Johnston to be very strong in the Eastern 4A.
