Hey boys and girls, Florida bound for winter rising stars, day after tomorrow. Kids already down there with grandparents and say its been 80 every day. Any of the rest of my fellow TBR's going (told my wife it was going to unusual for me not having anyone to chat with and she said eehhmm besides me oops) or who's going to Myrtle for the clinic down there. Let us know how it goes. Spring practice right around the corner (hs) and i think i'm starting to miss it after a little layoff (relatively). :1: Ohh and happy new year:champagne:

    Teams

I do not take the Blues because I do not think they can be very sharp compared to warm climate teams at this point. Also, got to give the girls a little time off for the holidays. We went last year with the Gold team because the fall tourney was rained out. Decent coach turnout but as I said our girls just were not as in softball shape.

    To each his own.

Just to give update, no scores. Rain hit again, last game ended at about 12:00. Good talent but not many 07s, lol.

Carolina Rage win 4 of 5

There was another NC team playing in the Rising Stars Tourney, the Carolina
Rage out of New Bern. They tied their first game and then proceeded to win 4 in a row. This team is made up of girls from the coastal region of NC, New Bern High, South Lenoir and Croatan are all represented. They had a great year in ASA last summer and should be solid in the future.

Sorry for the delay Fran is gonna be upset with me lol

Ok guys now for my report for the weekend in sunny FLA

The Triangle Lighting went 2-2-1 at the Rising Stars Winter Showcase
We got the opportunity to play on some of the "Gold" fields. Wow what an experience. Counted no less than 22 coaches at our game against Gold Coast Hurricanes Gold Saturday morning including some BIG D1 programs. UVA (go Hoos). UNC, Elon, Northwestern, Iowa State, Minnesota, Georgia etc. Here's a break down.

Fri. vs. Eagle Rock Renegades lost 3-2 supposedly #3 ranked Canadian 18U team
Sat. vs. Gold Coast Hurricanes win 2-1 in a rain shortened game wow looked like they had 2 extra teams on the bench
vs. Arizona Roadrunners lost 4-0 played decently but left alot of runners on base
vs. NJ Breakers 3-3 wow bunch of players here too (seems to be a running theme) also pretty "agressive bunch" with some questionable tactics that i want to start a seperate thread about.
Sun. vs Washington Lady Hawks awesome hitting and pitching to close out the weekend on a good note.

Don't know stats so I'll just list all the players and some general stuff
Pitching duties all weekend were done by Alex Ryan ('09 Fuquay-Varina) and Brittany Arnn ('09 Tunstall (VA)) who both did a wonderful job. Brittany also had a big 3-run bomb against Washington. Catching duties were handled by Emily Atkinson ('08 don't know HS sorry but committed to play at Tallahassee CC).
Other players Ashley Myers ('08 Parkland committed to Elon)
Beth Anne Kleekamp ('08 Middle Creek)
    Kristen Zimmerman ('09 Leesville Road)
MacKenzie Ramph ('09 East Wake)-big 2 out 2Rbi hit against Gold Coast
    Hannah Short ('09 Knightdale)
    Grace Jungclas ('09 Green Hope)
    Jessi Lane ('10 Harnett Central)
    Morgan Myers ('10 Parkland)

Cool Friday followed by a miserable rainy Sat. , followed by a gorgeous Sun. wish we could have stayed around for another game or two but had to endure that drive home. Overheard some major coaches saying they may start skipping this tourney especially the fall one because it's always raining it out.
