The Wilmington tournament each year is where us coaches did our worst coaching....we had it figured out that if we would lose on Saturday, we would not have the early game on Sunday, therefore we could stay at Hooters until closing time on Saturday night. We loved playing for 3rd place every year.

Amazing how late we would stay up just to enjoy the chicken wings!!!:th_90edab00:

    Coach27 - Good one!!!

Reminds me of a similar situation with a 14U team I coached. After the food arrived the kids started dropping their utensils just as the waitress was walking by, and she graciously bent over and picked everyone of them up. I'm not sure how many times they knocked them off the table but it was alot and she bent over and picked them up every time. I laughed watching those kids drooling.

I strongly suspect that the waitress had no clue what was going on:blont2:

Braves I agree 100%, but either way it was entertaining to say the least, OH and educational for those creative young men.

Hmmm, after reading all these posts, I'm thinking perhaps I should coach a 14 yo team.

Nice sites...worst wings ever. Seriously...Columbia has some GREAT wing joints. Went to college there. Bet there's 50 places.

Try this one. It's about 3 miles from campus.

    GOOD stuff

Hey Freak...seems like a great place. It's just across the bridge going to West Columbia. Thanks for the tip. That will be my next stop. That Steampot looks great, too!

I remember the year that Stretchlon was playing in Wilmington in terribly cold weather, in a very tight game that went on until dark. Zack Furl threw a gem to get us the win. I wasn't there, but got the play-by-play from my sister via cell phone. The next weekend was worse in Myrtle Beach, 31 degrees with that kid throwing 80 from 54 ft. Those were some good times Stretch.
