Not many players are willing to do that anyway, which is why college baseball has had far more transfers than any other sport in recent years.

I see what you mean. In Kyle's case, he was going to UNC despite the risk of a limited role. The same was true of Robert Woodard. But it can open up disatisfaction among players (something that has not occured in the past). I dunno, I guess we will have to wait and see. It's also why I am so opposed to the new rules in regards to transferring. How can an institution hold that over the head of a player on a limited scholarship...but they will.

Here is another side of that coin. A baseball player can get cut from his team, but still has to sit out a year. How is that fair? It is a total one sided
decision that only benefits a school without care for the student/athlete. Sorry for turning this thread, but it's a sore subject for me.

Changes obviously needed to be made. It was ridiculous that athletes already at one school were being openly recruited by others.

Yeah, but I think they could have found a balance. I know the D2 coaches are happy with this rule.

I always thought the open-recruiting/transfer situation was held in check by the fact that the coach had to sign a release or else the player had to sit for a year before playing for another NCAA team. To his credit, Coach Fox must be easy to get along with in this regard, since he signed off on Matt Spencer's transfer to Arizona State last year, and the guys this year.

The best advice I've heard on the subject is to choose a school you would go to, even if you were not playing a sport there.

I may be wrong, but I believe he is a student at UNC. There was no other school that he really wanted to attend.

I've preached that too, but if a kid commits to a school for book money and later on another school offers him 15 grand, why should he not be allowed to except it. I just firmly believe that partial scholarship athletes should not have to follow the NCAA transfer rules. The heck with today's college coaches. I have no sympathy, empathy or concern for them. My only concern is for the student athlete, particularly for the so called minor sport athlete.

Edit- Let me re-state that. I don't have much sympathy for many college coaches at the D1 level. The D2 coaches that I know are just the opposite. It's not about money

ECU probably has the best home attendance in the state of NC.
