Wouldn't surpise me a bit, I'd pay to see Kyle Roller hit, and wait til they get a load of Sowers and Harrington, it's gonna go up.

The 15 grand I don't know. The much better offer...all the time. After a kid has a great summer in a good summer college league, they get approached all the time. This has been going on for years.

15 grand would be a full ride at Chapel Hill.

I have a hard time visualizing a player who could boost his stock from book money to a full ride, as tight as baseball money is these days, unless it was a kid suddenly adding 10mph to his already live fastball.

Well, Drew Poulk only got 80 at bats for UNC, while his twin brother, Dallas got 170 at bats at NC State with a .394 average. Drew started out strong, but lost alot of his ABs to Fedroff who ended up hitting over .350 I think.
So, then Drew goes and plays for the Newport Gulls and hits .354 while being named the league's roookie-of the-year. Don't know where he is now, but he's not on NC State's roster.
This is a perfect illustration of where the UNC program is headed, replacing NC players with guys from New Jersey.

Don't get carried away with the money issue. 15 grand is not uncommon at private schools across the country. But yes, I know of a case intimately of a player that was offered book money at one school and 15 grand at another. But I am speaking of % and that changes from school to school.

But you are getting away from my point and that is a kid that plays for book money and gets cut. Why should he have to wait a year to play for another D1 school that wants him.

Book money at a state school is really the same offer as 15k at a private school that costs 30k, if you are looking at it from out of pocket costs.
If I had a kid being offered book money under the new rules, and there was any chance of him leaving, I'd tell the school to keep the $ and enroll as a non-counter.
Realistically, the only guys who should be considering transferring because of playing time are pro prospects like Drew Poulk.
    Where is Drew Poulk ?

But...there is very little room for "non-counters" anymore.

Okay...I am way off topic. I'll let this rest
