    Apologize

I apologize if I offended anyone. I expressed an honest observation and opinion that is shared by many others but that are afraid to express. I am sure most teams are extremely talented but there are those that are not. I am happy that all kids have somewhere to play and as long as they are having fun playing the game that's all that matters anyway.

I also enjoyed the Old Dominion Showcase Championship game which had the Hurricanes North team playing the Virginia Cardinals. A fantastic pitchers duel which was won by the Hurricanes 2-1 in extra innings. Talk about intense competition....the coaches could hardly breath!!!

If you go to a tryout and they choose you , great. Its alot of fun. And it can create alot of options for your kid. And you make alot of friends you never would have made. As far as the development I never thought that was up to any one else but the player himself.

You play on the weekends. You work your butt off during the week. You continue to get better or you get worse. The games are about showing what you can do right now. The days in between are where you work to be better than you were the day before.

If you dont like it then dont play it. If you tryout and you dont make it keep working and find another option. But dont say you dont like it if you never played it or your bitter because you didnt make the team after a tryout. Its kind of like Perfect Game ratings. Kid gets a good rating "Perfect Game is the best" kid gets a bad rating "Perfect Game sucks".

I agree with most of what 27 says. Most of the development is up to the kid. Some Showcase teams practice and try to help the development more than others. Not everybody skins a cat the same way. Even in HS the coaches only have so much time for individual attention. The player has to accept the responsibility to improve and do or go whereever to improve. I guess the only place 27 and I might disagree is I don't think it's the same recipe for every kid. I doubt he thinks that either.

I'll agree with you on the Grasshopper Stadium venue. It's a great place to watch a game and I would imagine that the guys like playing on the field too.

I really liked that they had a roster for each team at that venue also. It sure did help me as a spectator to figure out who was who. It had the name, grade, and if the player had committed somewhere and if so, where they were going to play.

The fact that the 'weather' was baseball perfect probably helped out too! :sunny:
