It was a great day to see lots of baseball folks at L-R. Got to spend some time with the omniscient Braves, so I'm up to speed on all things baseball. Was happy to get to meet his son also. What a gentleman. You done good there Braves. A special thank you to Prepster for coming out and supporting some of us who are just getting going. I was disappointed in STRIKE-EM-OUT though. He said I would have a , "Welcome to Hickory" greeting at the Bojangles, but I guess he forgot. He then had the gall to call me Sunday morning to place his order for Bojangles Biscuits.....assuming I'd be in the line. The nerve of some people.

    Thanks for being there...

I thought it went really well and I always like seeing a bunch of players at the same time.

East of Raleigh- Here was the major advantage of hosting the showcase
#1 We had three players from the showcase stay after and have a recruit visit.
#2 We got to watch and evaluate several players and still be home early and it didn't ruin a day of practice.
#3 There were several kids who attended who I will be in touch with. They now have a mental image of LR which is a great way to start the recruiting process from my end.

Andy Partin is a good guy. The more I have gotten to know him and his staff I really believe they are in it for the right reasons. Everyone wants or dreams about making a living in sports no matter what their background. He's one of the very few who has made it happen without being a big time college or pro guy to fall back on. He's living the dream on your bucket list braves!

Thanks Coach for your reply. I can not tell you how important it is to get feedback from the college coaches no matter what the subject is.

And you are right about Andy. He has always been in it for the right reasons. The people that get to know him on a personal level will tell you he does a lot of work behind the scenes in helping a kid that is not connected with his Dirtbags. He has a passion for the game and the players that play it, regardless if they play for him or not.

...and if you are fortunate enough to play for him, he is going to work as hard if not harder for you than what he demands his players to work (and that is a lot.)

I've met many people in baseball and Andy Partin is one that I hold in high esteem.

    This is a great event

and a win win situation for everyone. LR gets to showcase its campus and its baseball facilities to players. They get to see some guys without leaving campus. The players get an opportunity to be seen by college coaches and professional scouts. And Impact gets to hold another top notch event.

I will be there again next year. This year was my third year in a row. It does not get any better if you love to see a ton of guys that can flat out throw the baseball.

The rule concerning no individual workouts at D1 schools has only been in effect for about 2 years I believe. If a showcase involves splitting the players up on teams, then playing games, the games may be played on the D1 fields. The individual workout portion must be held off campus.

As a clarification, I believe the D1 individual workout rule (having to be off campus) only applies to independent third party organizations such as an Impact or a Perfect Game that host showcases on a campus. Unless I am mistaken, an individual school can host a camp and time the players, have BP, throw bullpens and such without a problem.

    Correct. That's a camp, not a showcase.
