Went to their showcase this fall. Great coaches and a lot of excitement down there. I can see why they are ranked that high.

Definately the class of the CVAC. The conference overall is weak (compared to Peach Belt and SAC), but Mt. Olive has a strong program.

    Collegiate News

Most (including me) believe Baseball America is the premier information source for baseball today.

Collegiate News has been around since I played. We used to wait patiently for the monthly paper to come out.

I remember being limited to the MLB Game of the Week and 30 minutes of "This Week In Baseball." That was pretty much it!

I also remember listening to the World Series (day games) on a transitor radio in Elementary School.

    Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's
NCAA Div. II Pre-Season Poll (As of Dec. 26)

    Rank School Name
    1. Tampa 53-10
    2. Columbus St. 51-19
    3. Florida Southern 44-16
    4. Mesa St. 49-14
    5. Abilene Christian 47-13
    6. Mount Olive 49-13
    7. Franklin Pierce 49-11
    8. Tusculum 50-14
    9. Angelo St. 51-20
    10. Southern Indiana 43-23

Good Job Mt. Olive! Let the games begin........(on time for D2!).

FYI: The CVAC has changed their name to Conference Carolinas. That better defines the geography of the Conference.

For the life of me I can't figure out how Mt Olive recruits so well nationally...or should I say internationally. They have 5 kids from Canada, 2 from Arizona, plus Missouri, Wisconsin, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, SC & of course NC.

Compare that to Catawba (another D2 power) whose roster has 2 from Florida, 1 from Ohio...and the rest in-state. At Belmont Abbey, Coach Smith/Anderson have developed a Florida pipeline...but otherwise NC remains our foundation.

Considering Mt Olive's campus, facility, location, & D2 budget, Coach Lancaster & Staff are magicians! Hat tip!

We also have some guys from Canada on our team. Excellent ball players too. It's funny that they have come all the way down here to play in Hendersonville, NC.

I'm not sure what smell attracted them here though.
