She did, only had 4 points, missed a few close range shots and didn't play a ton early in the game. Just didn't find her groove tonight. Good thing is some of these kids are taking a page from Ford and putting a lot of extra work in the gym. About 6 kids spent the whole boys game in the Aux. gym shooting..

When South played us a few weeks ago they were able to score some on us when we played straight up man. Coach Parham has done a pretty darn good job with mostly 9th and 10th graders. Maybe he outta get some consideration for Coach of the Year?

Meanwhile East Burke, a team who I personally thought could finish 2nd in conference is having a hard time of recent. Tied for 4th in conf. (4-4) but with a 9-10 overall record. East still has games with McDowell and Freedom on the schedule.

Parham always does a great job of coaching no matter the sport Baseball or Basketball. Good to see these girls finish a close game. They had EB beat the first game and tightened up with less than a minute to go and lost. Pretty much the same thing against Reynolds a game we lead most of should have won but didn't finish. This time they got it done which shows how they are maturing. As Bigdan stated mostly 9th and 10th graders. With 2 very good 8th graders joining the mix next year look out!

I agree with you 100% cavs1. This seems to be the norm for Murray, he thinks they can play staight man on anybody- anytime. There is times that a zone is better.
Another thing, just because a young lady has on an East Burke jersey doesn't mean they HAVE got to play in EVERY game!

When I say the same things about Coach Anderson at WHS, I get crucified. Why isn't someone knocking this guy down some??

I agree, both coaches are dead set in "their" system adn sometimes it is not the best thing. And I think both coaches play everyone so they can keep the parents quite. Well too bad, it ain't happening here.

Right now who is a legitimates candidate to take our womens basketball job if we get rid of Anderson? Dunnigan and Eggers probably won't take it. Face it this is the worst job in our conference maybe behind South Caldwell Womens Soccer or Volleyball.

I wouldn't blame eggers or dunnigan for not taking the job after they cleaned house of them last year. That would be almost stupid. I have always wanted to know why the Wilkes Central girls coach did not get the job up here? The girls deserve someone that will put his/her full concentration into the basketball program and not split it with football.

It maybe a bad job, but look what a good coach can do with some talented young players (South Caldwell and Coach Parham)

    Freedom--------12-22-9-14----57
    AC Reynolds----21-5-18-11----55

ACR took a large lead at the end of one, only to have Freedom hold them without a fg in the 2nd quarter and take a lead into the locker room. ACR came out on fire and cut the lead down late in the 3rd and the 4th was back and forth. Carlee Taylor had 22 pts and 6 3ptrs. She hit one with them down 3 55-52 with a minute or so to go. Freedom calls timeout and we held the ball for the last shot. Ali Ford penetrated with about 8 seconds left and kicked to Kim Brown when 3 people stepped to her for a 12 ft field goal to give us a two point lead. Freedom stole the inbound pass after a timeout by ACR and Freedom to peserve the win.. Great game by both teams

    Ali Ford- 16
    Olivia Surratt-13

    Carlee Taylor---22
    Whitney Brinkley--8

East Burke beat Alexander by 30 or so

Sounds like a barn burner, congrats on a good win. It also looks like Reynolds is going through a total meltdown. In the past it was hard to go into Fairview and win no matter how young the lady rockets were. A couple of weeks ago McDowell went in and blew them out. I predicted it earlier, could Coach Mike Silver reappear as the Lady Rockets coach next year?:huh2:
