    Well, been here and there. Never really left, just not posting much. Had arthoscopic surgery on right knee righ before christmas, laid around and recouped a little.

    Winning matters but far less in 'non-revenue' sports

    Honestly, most university AD's just want the non-rev coaches to 'stay below the radar' . . . and most of these coaches know this. Winning is not really critical as long as the kids graduate and nothing 'untoward' occurs. Not a bad philosophy, really. If a softball coach is truly psychologically or physically abusive (not just demanding) and that abuse is documented that the coach will not last long. Even General Knight with his two national titles couldn't survive @ IU. I've been on college campuses virtually every day the last 35 years except for the few years I taught and coached in HS. I can assure you that never have AD's been more sensitive than they are today regarding these issues. Wins will not protect a softball coach against legitimate charges.
