Your right. South just seems to be the team to beat. The rest look like they will rely on JV players coming up. Didn't mean to call anyone out.

    I have always

been one of those folks that believes in order to be the man you have to beat the man. SC is the defending state 4A champs. Until someone beats them and takes that crown from them they are the state champs. They are the favorite to win their conference and one of the favorites to win the state title. Watauga will challenge them because they are a very good baseball team. But first they have to beat them. And thats not going to happen on this message board. Good luck to both teams this year. They both have outstanding coaches and alot of great young men playing on their teams. Let the best team win.

Just to let everyone know ABW does NOT represent the majority of South Caldwell fans opinions. All the knowledgeable fans and PLAYERS know how good Watagua's team and pitching will be this year. There been some very good discussions about the upcoming nw4a season for the last month or so. It only takes one bad apple to ruin the whole bunch and turn a good thread into a verbal fight

South Caldwell won the 2007 conference championship last year before the first pitch was thrown.
    Why ?
Because the contending teams who could have beaten SC rolled over and chose to play for second place, when they set their pitching rotation.
ACR wouldn't throw Runion against the big lefty in the first half, but when they did throw him in the second half, they won.
Alexander Central never threw Harrington against SC, instead choosing to save him for Watauga.
The big difference this year, is you have a contending team (Watauga) who is not built to roll over and play for second place, even if it was the smart thing to do. They also do not give a rat's rump about their non-conference record, IF it helps them become a better team. :detonate:

I really wanted to know, Im a Watauga guy but I dont know much about the team this year. I do know some of those guys you named and I dont see some of them pitching very much this year. Of course you will have Sharpe and Tyler Moore. Wallace, Dunnigan, and Moyer I think will be the only other pitchers to see a varsty game this year. Hardee and Lowder will not see an inning this year in my opinion. You are right about Dicus though

This year in football we went with Shelby and Davie to prepare us for the stretch run. We did not win those games but we were better prepared for AC Reynolds and Purnell Swett and it got us to a Final Four.

We will win more that 1 of our non conference games though. We will beat West Wilkes, win 2 in Kinston and take 3 out of the 2 Providences, 2 North Davidsons and 2 Mt Tabors.
