Wow! .....1. I loved the State ALLSTAR games...

....this past year, so if you were referring to the Fishman as " hating them", well you are, well not on track. 2. As for how close you say you are to the nitty gritty so to speak, the down and dirty of the shear political shame and uproar of how the selection process was corrupted, and the obvious intent to leave out those who are "not in the loop"? PHLLLLGGHHHHH! ....get your facts straight. Marlin.

    State Games Registration/HS

I have been reading 4-5 months now and have not posted yet, but now I am ready. I would like to comment on the NC State Games. It was a wonderful experience for my DD, and it actually opened a lot of doors for her future in the Game. I agree with Marlin that the level of play was very high and was elite TB caliber. The coaches were great, and the facillity was top notch, but I think in the end it came at a price. The team she was on had a problem with her playing, even though the rest of the team came from successful HS programs and played multiple rounds in the HS State playoffs(Hers didn't). We all do what we think is best for our DD's and that was definately the right choice. Having said that, we are not going to pursue that ,due to the Dynamite this year. It is a tough choice for parents to make. I do agree that the weekend should eventually be moved to a another without a major confliction, but that wiil always be tough, with TB Showcases everywhere.

That Aren't But So Many Weekends !!!

To come to Pop's rescue there aren't but so many weekends in the summer to have the State Games. I think giving the kids a couple of weeks off after the State Championship in Walnut Creek is a wise choice. Pop never intended to interfere with any showcase event it just happened to fall on that very weekend. I think the issue here is that people want their cake, and eat it to. In this case it's not possible, so we all have to make a decision on whether go out for the State Games or play in the popular showcase during that weekend if we qualify. Either decision will be good for the kids !! I met Pop last year in Rock Hill, and we sat down and talked for about 30 mins. He has nothing, but your kids interest in the advancement of fastpitch softball for the S.E. He has some great ideas that will better the future of this great game in next 5-10 years !!! GREAT GUY, I SUPPORT HIM !!!

Closer you play it to the end of school the less the chance of being at the same time as a big tourny. Baseball does it the weekend before and perhaps thats a good date for softball.

    Correct!

You are correct about the State Games being played the weekend before for Baseball. Baseball has been involved with the State Games for a long time. They got into the Games way back when for the same reason that Softball has gotten into a partnership with them now. The NCHSAA did not and will not offer an All-Star game for either sport. We chose the same route that Baseball did. The people from the State Games that work the Baseball tournaments the weekend before are the same people that work for our event. The State Games themselves run from June 1st through our tournament. With us being the new kids on the block so to speak, we had to take what was available. Our Association worked hard to bring these All-Star games and tournament to fruition. We are trying to get the weekend issues worked out. State Games move to Charlotte in 2009. We are as hopeful as anyone else that we can present a different format next year in Charlotte. As I stated in one of the firsts posts on this subject, it came down to a facilities issue and that is the bottom line for 2008. There has never been a HS vs. TB issue from the standpoint of our Association. We are in it "for the girls". We will in some way get the conflicts worked out somewhere in the future. I can assure each and everyone, that we are working to get these matters corrected.

My dd has played tb for 5 yrs and played at some of the big tournaments and no one wants to get their dd seen any more than I do but if she gets chosen to play you can bet she'll be there. I don't think one weekend is going to make or brake your chances at getting seen, I would hope she would have many more chances.
One more thing if you want to play the tb tournaments that weekend then play them, if you want to play the states then play them, but stop all the bashing.

    Amen Woody !!!
My DD played and had the best time of her HS career.
No regrets, and much praise to Pop.
    Thanks for the opportunity.

Hope to see you this year at the East/West games.

Yes, I think the world of POP, we're very lucky to have him. I just wish the dates wouldn't conflict with other venues. DD missed last yrs games to play on TB team, this yr she'll be at beach for Sr. week. She's very dedicated to ball, but she has my blessing to go to beach. Spent alot of hot, nasty weekends at ball fields, & you only graduate HS once in your lifetime. I hope for next yrs games all will be worked out, thanks again POP, you're the best !!

Pop, you know you have my undying support on your endeavor, but what does this mean, no All Star event? I know for a fact that baseball is incorporating the All Star challenge between NC vs SC (Seniors only) in 2009...or are you speaking of something else?
