    This tops all !!!

I have been reading the tripe about HS and TB and have had all I can take I have held my tongue and promised my self that I would not get involved. But I just cant take reading any more of this petty BS going back and forth. I have been involved in youth sports since 1981 and in Fastpitch since it started here in NC. both in the travel and school realms, as a coach, parent and fan. This is by far the worst crap I have read on here. It is even worse thet the occcasional raids by the R&R folks, what makes it worse is that it is being done to us by us. Sure there some HS coaches that may not be as up on the game as they should be but guess what there are as many TB coaches that fit the same mold. I feel that we as a TBR community are very close to self destructiog over this subject, and I find it interesting that all the negativity is exclusively from the TB side of the subject, could it be that the HS coaches are to profesional to fall into the trap? Pop, I hope you reconsider your position on not posting on here as what you post is what this board is supposed to be about. There are alot more college coaches that read this board then you may realise, what do you think this type of crap says about us to a college coach?.
I guess what I am trying to say is that we all may need to grow up a bit and think about the examples we are setting for the student athletes that read these threads.

some of the older members will remember conversations about the state of hs ball in california about five years ago. a friend of mine in ca stated that most tb girls dont play hs ball in the larger area's. in our discussion, we kinda all agreed to not let this happen here in nc as this was one precident we didnt want to follow. i believe that this is a situation that can be settled as much as is possible, through group discussions, but those discussions must come in a way that they can be considered by an organization such as pop rivers...in other words, forward you ideas or disagreements through the proper channels and in the right way.

i am one of the mods who asked Pop to post the information on this forum..it was, and still is, one of the best things that has happened to hs softball and the only way its gonna get better is for people to help improve it instead of sitting back and taking pot shots at it hiding behind false names.

i wish they would have had this when my dd was in hs, she would have loved to participate in this...

something else to think about...seven years ago, i would venture to guess that less than 5% of the hs teams had any one on the staff involved with travel ball. today, in our conference alone, its at 90%+ as hs ball and tb merge for the same goal - getting our kids in college and having fun. i know its not that way for every conference, but i also have to agree with DawgFan, i watched a lot of tb this summer and in my humble opinion, there are just as many "not so good" tb coaches as there are "not so good" hs coaches.

quit complaining and do something about it, jmho

Guys Almost every post on this board over the past few months has gone negative at some point and I for one can not explain why. Is there so much pressure on coaches, parents, and players that we have forgotten we all are human beings and we all have feelings, desires, and needs. Let's please get back to our purpose in life and God's plan> "DO UNTO OTHERS AS U WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU! Step back and evaluate your life, your thoughts, your comments, and if it ain't good or tactful at least, don't write it! Pop is one of the good ones that truly cares about your kids more than his record and his fame! Don't run him off or have him quit! U will lose! Ray and The Cheese man allowed this board a great deal of freedom and they work hard to have a quality product, don't force them to dictate everything we do. I for one reconize that without quality players, I am not that good! Give the players the credit and quit trying to cut the quality ones down or get angry because someone does not think like U! Been doing softball since 1993 and have had some special people to come into my life as a result of this great sport and had some special events as a result of the sport and my wife and I have been able to share times together watching our daughters and others daughters play this sport! My daughter is in her last year of softball at a local college and then it is over for my family but I have the Blues to keep me with daughters for years to come! Please keep this game way above the crap, the dirt, and the HURT! LOL Come on coaches, I know there are enough good ones out there to monitor your groups! I will certainly deal with my group.:smash:

    With all respect...

This paragraph is why some feel that most are left out of the selection process and such that goes on with HS ball! You call it back and forth! We call it expressing our views and opinions! Funny how that is taken to be back and forth! But yet you want our money to join the Association! Well if you don't care about my views or ideas why should I pay money to join your club? That pretty much tells me right up front that my money will get me nothing more than the HS ball experience in general! Here in lies the problem! It is a "Good Old Boy" club and if you weren't willed a membership with rights, you can kiss the lamp post to nowhere! Apparently you just don't care what the rest of us think! Which is fine!
But I think if you really wanted people to join your club, it might be a good idea, to make it sound a little more appealing to them! You know like wanting to know the opinions and views of others! Just think about it!

    I agree

Dawgfan I agree: I met and talked to Pops last year at the state games and found him to be very passionate about our girls in softball and very knowlegable about the game of softball. In his post he is very professional and has took more BS than I would have. Please folks don"t destroy the best friend NC HS softball has ever had.

Ever thought of a private message Softball4ever!

Most people who call out an individual or an Association would have the decency to do so in a private message. I see that this is not your style. I will not fall into this trap and give you my personal opinion of your posts in a public forum. As a representative of the NCSCA, I would ask that you refrain from your type of bashing on TBR. Referring to our Association as a "good ole boy club" is going to offend a number of our members. If you want to talk with me personally, send an email to TBR. You may also reach me at [email protected]. I would hope that we could work out the obvious differences that we seem to have concerning things.

Sorry but I dont get the connection at all 1987. How is it a good ol boys club? all organizations usually have associate memberships. Heck I am an associate member of the NCHSAA because I am not on staff. I pay, cant vote but am still a proud member. Thats just the way it is some times.

    I'm with Dawg!!!.....

....HS v. TB is like two brothers or sisters fighting over who gets what and why. "you've got my shirt on!" says my 17 DD. HELLO! my 13 DD wears it because she saw it look good on her sister! .....................We've got to stick together to keep this sport moving forward. At the end of the day my DDs still yak back and forth but they find a cool ground where they can swap clothes. HS and TB need to learn to share!

It took a long time and a lot of hard work by some of these high school coaches to get the membership going. The association has worked hard to play catch up with other sports that have had associations a long time. Instead of criticizing everything how bout working with the association softball4ever1987. That means both ways not just your way. But remember an association has to work within the boundaries of the associations constitution. You can't just change things on the fly. Again since the association began the games have been added, the all state teams and all region teams have been added, just to mention a couple. Everything is not going to be perfect. There is some trial and error and improvements will be made. Pop already stated they're looking into alternative possibilities for the future. But the date is set for this year and no matter how much griping there is, it's not going to change. The state games and the showcases are both awesome for fastpitch, so why can't people support both?
