    After much thought...

You know you are right, REALITY sucks! Now there is a fine post to leave the younger players with! Let's just crush their egos and say if you ain't D1 you ain't s@*#. That is an extremely immature attitude to have on this subject, or any other subject! Oh Booo Hoooo! Give me a break! I guess it is safe to say, that you are in the crowded line, of I don't give a darner's?
So cancer, dog fighting, child neglect or abuse, world peace or hunger, war none of these subjects according to you are worth the time it takes to discuss them because Booo Hooo life isn't fair! Why try to fix any problem? Just accept that life isn't fair and get used to it!
On second thought, oh just SHUT UP!

    Agree somewhat with CatchersDad

All athletes regardless of the sport are striving to reach the D1 goal, that is a fact; however, D1 is not for everyone due to school size, competitiveness both on the field and in the classroom. More publicity is given to D1 schools because of the level of play and level of players they attract. More top athletes go to D1 schools but not all top athletes go there; however, the majority do. We are all kidding ourselves and each other if we think Division 1 isn't what every athlete at some point is reaching for but just maybe along the way they make a turn due to other factors. Just because an athlete chooses D2, etc doesn't mean they are not a good player it simply means they made a choice. Life is all about choices. In fact we all know softball athletes who could play at any level but chose to simply hang up their gloves and go to school and enjoy being a college student.

If the athlete is happy with her choice then she and her parents should embrace it. Be happy for the D1 kids, happy for the D2 kids....just be happy!!

I couldn't disagree with you more. Not every athlete even plans playing in college. It may come as a shock to you that some top colleges don't offer every sport..even softball! That does not mean that athlete isn't very good. Well maybe they just love the sport but also know that they will become a "professional" in something other than sports.:blast:

    Life

Would U say we all want to be one of the best in whatever we do. Or at least strife to be the best. Same thing for kids involved with softball, most at least feel in their mind, they want to be D-1. Haven't we all dreamed of hitting the winning shot, scoring the winning run, or catching that touchdown. Sure all that enjoy sports have done that in their back yard, etc. Kids that play this game are important because they are our kids! D-1, D-11, and D-111, JUCO, NAIA, whatever does not matter as there are different levels of ability and needs. Same in life, not all people are executives, in fact a small percentage. The point celebrate the accomplishments of your kid and the joys they bring, why worry about all the other crap. My kid plays D-11 but has excelled in the classroom, in community service, and has been a four year starter. She is not D-1 material but she excelled at her level. Point, everyone has their area of expertize and comfort, to each his/her own! Enjoy and do not destroy!:REDanceBanana008:

    Decision made

After reading all the post in D-1 and Travel/HS, I have made a decision not to post anymore except accomplishments of my players or other players I know and the Lady Blues Showcase Day update. It just is not worth it to deal with many of the "mean spirited" posters! Opinions are one thing, the other stuff is to much!
Best to all HS and Travel teams and their coaches, remember make it fun! See YA!:knife:

I couldn't agree more, but to put this in context, I was addressing the point about goals. I do not believe many DD's set a goal of riding a bench for 4 years.

But, I also understand that things change for a student once they attend their school of choice. They have made new friends, they are comfortable with their classes and they love their campus. All of those things are much more important than how much playing time an athlete gets. I understand the reason why players that may not play much are still excited about being on their team (a lot can be said for that). But I don't believe that is one of their goals when they were being recruited.

Someone brought up the point that one's talent is mirrored by what level of college one attends. And my answer to this is "who cares?" One can get a great education at every level of college, but where does one feel they have a better opportunity to play? I understand there are so many other variables to consider, but I'm strictly referring to playing softball.

    hate to hear that

You are one of the few posters who I actually enjoy reading.... so I hate to hear this. People need to remember, when you are posting on a message board...one like this... it can turn into an adult MYSPACE.. and feelings are hurt and talked about behind their back, etc... Just like the things we get mad at our kids about...
Don't let others take the pleasure out of what you enjoy!

I'm glad you agree with me, however, I did not say "REALITY sucks", you did.
Additionally, how would you know what line I am in and holding what bag full of stuff that are not worthy of discussion. You absolutely missed my opinion and the parade in my post. What's great about this country and this board is that we all can express ourselves freely. What is bad is that people take stuff to seriously. So if I have offended you or other members of TBR please accept my apology. As for my statement: :"life is not, nor will it ever be fair, some will accept the challenge while others will embrace the unfairness of it all", I stand by this.
