What is your reasoning for playing ball other than trying to get your DD to college ?? Please be HONEST !!!

It would have to be the early mornings, late nights, cold weather, hot weather, staying at the fields all day and into the night, the over priced concession food, and the cheap softball things that a daughter has just got to have. seriously when she started playing in county ball and then played her first travel ball game we all just fell in love with the game. We have met some wounderful people and have made some great friends while playing this game. If we could go back and do it all again we would, I guess it just gets into your blood. Not to mention that it has kept my dd from possibly getting involved with the wrong crowd. WHAT A GREAT GAME!!! :sifone::sifone:

    good luck to everyone

    I LOVE THE GAME!!

I don't have any daughters, except the ones I have coached and adopted as my athletes over the years. I think I have been a 'jockette' since I was born and have played softball since the age of 9. FASTPITCH SOFTBALL IS THE GREATEST GAME AROUND. I feel it is the fast action of the game compared to baseball that people enjoy. I can watch it all day as opposed to a baseball game.

For me, as a parent, (can't answer for my kids) it's the joy of seeing them excel in something they like to do.
For me, as a spectator, it's the sheer enjoyment of the game.
For me, as a coach, (at least part time anyway), it's the look in the eyes of that one kid who has never played before, comes to tryouts, and just absolutely embraces the game. The intensity of her gaze, the intelligence that you can just see behind those eyes, and amount of attention given to you as a coach on every word you say. That is what it's all about and is a rare commodity when they get this age. Don't know if she'll ever be good, but it will be an absolute joy to watch her grow.
And by all my means, you can't forget the absolute feeling of family that you get from playing, traveling and basically living with a team through a summer of ball, along with the friends that you make. :1luvu:

The proud feeling you get when your dd's walks out on the ball field. No matter how good or bad she plays you have the greatest feeling inside just because she goes out there and plays her heart out.

The value of the time softball affords you to spend in direct contact with your child is without measure!!!

I wouldn't take a million for one minute of the time I have spent with my dd working on softball. I am fortunate to have been able to make her interest my interest and it has allowed a relationship that would have never formed any other way!!!

    life lessons

My prayer is that my daughter walk away from the game years from now having learned the same life lessons that I did through TEAM sports: committment, work-ethic, desire, competitiveness, disappointment, success, teamwork, team before self, the ability to overcome adversity, and the celebration of accomlishments. The plan is that she'll someday want to instill those virtues in my future grandchildren.
