    My son today......

No baseball yet, but HS basketball ended last night for him. I helped coach the HS team this year and when it was over last night, he walked up to me, put his arm around me and told me he loved me, thanks for helping this year and he enjoyed having me there. No tears, no disappointment, he was satisfied that he gave his all. One chapter ends, another begins and soon they start a new book.

My daughter gave up softball this year (anybody want to buy a rocket tech or Easton Synergy bat?) She went to her first track practice yesterday and came home and said the coach was making her a sprinter (100/200 and 800) and needs racing spikes. Surely, track is cheaper than softball?

Excellent post: 2 kids in one post, the more the merrier. Good luck to both of them.

    Sportsmom nailed it.

The first time you go telling how great your child is they up and go like 0 for 12 or something.

I'm also uncomfortable discussing my son's on the field achievements. Don't get me wrong. I'm very proud of both my boys. I couldn't be happier. But baseball (or the stuff that goes along with it) is weird sometimes. Other people read this stuff. Some teammates take offense. Sometimes other parents get offended. Sometimes people think you are bragging on your kid. I'll discuss off the field stuff but I'm uncomfortable discussing on the field stuff.

Plus, our coach streses team over self, and rightly so. If the team does well the individuals will get noticed. We have some kids at Ragsdale that I could really brag on but then someone else would be offended. From time to time I may mention something but not much. Our coach is also as superstitous as me.

Kids are the joy of the world

This thread is NOT to say my kid, your kid, Braves kid or any kid is GREAT.

This is only to post things that your kid did that you enjoyed. Heck he could reach base 4 times (walk, hit by pitch, error, catchers interference) and that could bring you happiness.

I personally don't think we should worry about what "naysayers" might say out of jealousy. We all have our right to be proud of our kids.

Even though it is a team sport there are many individual performances (small & big) that need to be recognized otherwise the newspapers could not write stories about the games.

Don't let a rotten apple spoil the basket full of good apples.

Don't fear life if you are living the truth.

I hear ya Stretch but it gets old. I can tolerate it but it's hard on my son so I don't say much.

not to be too far off topic...

my son is two. we sat down in the floor last to, as he put it, "play some cars and trucks, daddy!" and he proceeded to count his cars, 1-15. (he skipped number 6, but oh well). i was impressed. his mom has been working with him. she's a good girl. :biggrina:

If I showed up at my son's school with his favorite meal or anything else I think he would be mortified. That is unless it was something he forgot that morning, like his glove or cleats. LOL

I am at his school alot so most of the kids know me and he is a senior...so his brain is coming back slowly and he is realizing that parents aren't such a bad thing. If he were a freshman...I know it would be different.

With that being said...I did meet him in the parking lot and didn't take it in the cafeteria! :auto:
