Tyler Woods pitched the final inning and was perfect.

    Smithfield Selma 2

Good game between two good teams.

Tyler Joyner started the game for Northern, Tate Parrish for SSS. SSS took an early 2-0 lead keyed by a Parrish solo homer in the first. Northern fought back and took the lead in the top of the fifth 3-2 and that is how it ended. Both have solid teams and should have good seasons. SSS travels to South Johnston tomorrow to resume that in-county rivalry.

It was an emotional game because both teams wanted to come out and win there first game! The schools are separated by 5 miles at the most and are tough rivals in every sport. It also featured 3 division 1 signees in Austin Sandy(UNCW) James Mckinght( NC A&T) and Manny Beltran( NC A&T). Was a real cold night and both tems played suprisingly well due to the circumstances.
