    Myers Park 7, Olympic 1

Chris Overman wiggled out of first inning trouble by striking out the 4-5-6 hitters after the first three Trojans reached, then cruised the rest of the way. Olympic's lone run came on a two out error in the seventh.

Overman also had the big blow of the game, a three run shot to break open the game in the third.

Brian Holbertson had two doubles and Nate Cudney added a pair of hits.

MP defense looked good in turning two sharp looking 5-4-3 DPs.

Without question, MP has the tools to compete for the SW4A title. Good early matchup tomorrow as MP host Hopewell.

    MP 2-0, Olympic 1-1

Ragsdale goes to 2-0 with an 8-0 win over Southern Lee. Don't have many details since I had to leave in the 4th. I know Nick McBride started and got the win. This is a great young team. 5 sophs and 4 juniors on that field tonight

    Next up - Rocky Mount.

    Knightdale @ Wakefield [2/28/2008]

    Knightdale 6 Wakefield 3
Knightdale - Cameron Richards 3 IP 3 runs; Nathan Smith 4 IP 0 Runs
Wakefield - Chris Blankenship started on the mound followed by Trevor Shock and Evan Smith.

For a cold afternoon in February, I thought the pitchers were generally effective - although none obviously were as sharp as they will be later in March.

Hats off to both teams. Unless I am mistaken, this game was the first error-free game for Knightdale since the school opened 4 years ago.

I am not sure who picked Wakefield to be at the bottom of their conference but I will say this - their batting order is scary good! They unfortunately ran in to 2 very good pitchers yesterday - a righty/lefty combination that kept them off balance.

    David vs Goliath

My good buddy Righthander David Wittman tossed 4 no hit innings in relief for the win. This was his first ever varsity game.
