Ok. How do you keep your book? What do you keep track of? How do you score an error or a hit? :MEPsychologist02HL:

I love pitch counts. That includes ALL throws made by the pitcher to include holding baserunners, warm-ups, BullPen, etc. Every single throwing motion. I believe you can get wrapped around what should be thrown in certain situations and be scratching your head as to why it wasn't. Therein is the reason I like pitch counts. A pitcher is going to throw his best pitch that he is CAPABLE of in that given situation. Depends on who is calling pitches though of course. Pitcher may just throw what he is told.

Further regarding counts: I count catcher throws also. ALL of them! By all means keep that catcher in there(sarcasm). Because Im going to know exactly how many throws, what kind, and how many he has made. (And to where.)

I like to chart pitch selection on 2 strike counts, hitter counts, and pitchers counts.

Regarding hitting: Batter approach to his counts ie what are the tendencies of a batter in hitter counts and/or pitcher counts? In addition, of course, the situation will dictate. Still, I look at 1-0, 1-1, 2-0, 2-1, 3-0, 3-1 as to what the hitter should be doing. Looking for something to hit.

Hitting further: What he did with what he had where he hit it.

Errors: This is selective IMO. However I look at this. Can the defensive player have made the play? or Should the defensive player have made the play? Really opinion on this but it, I think, comes down to could he have made the play? Routine plays, IMO, should be made. No debate on that IMO. Certainly many schools of thought here. E for not making the routine.

Hits: Old school here. Defensive player could not have made play.

    This is what I do.

    scoring question

I have a scoring question. I am fairly sure that I did it correctly - but - if you know the answer I would like to know. This concerns an earned run vs unearned run. First batter of the inning strikes out. Second batter of the inning strikes out - but reaches base on a passed ball - third strike. Third batter strikes out. Now with 2 outs - the team gets 3-4 hits and a couple of walks and scores 6 runs. All 6 runs are unearned since there should have been 3 outs before any of them scored. Thanks for any input.

Only question would be was it actually a passed ball (ball that should have been caught by the catcher) or was it a wild pitch (a ball in the dirt or could not routinely be handle by the catcher). If it was a wild pitch and not a pass ball, then the runs would be earned.

It was definitely a passed ball because it was a called third strike. I failed to mention that. Sorry
