Just want to honor my 2003 and 2004 class that helped put the Blues on the Map! All have been starters for at least two of their four years and most are four year starters: Brooke Starnes St Stephens and L/R, Meredith O'Connor, Myers Park and L/R,Taylor Queen,St Stephens and L/R, Emily Forbes, St. Stephens and UNCC, Abby Threatt, Butler and Belmont Abbey. All have either made all-conference or all-tournament during their career, and one is a third team all-american. All have managed to keep their grades in tact and one has a 3.85 GPA for all semesters to date.

Two other 2004 Blues were starters as freshman but their careers were cut short by injury and illness. Melissa Stuhr, East Meck, Queens and Ashley Stewart, Forest Hills, Longwood

Three 2003 Blues Kim Goens, Independence, Nikki Price, Piedmont and Kristi Smith, Butler all played at Mt. Olive. All were starters as Freshmans.

Thanks ladies for blazing the path for those that followed! All of you were key components to our success.:luxlove:

    Very Nice......

....post here and equally very informative. Its players like these who have busted there butts on hot days and sometimes crappy fields or gametimes only to pick their chin up and play ball. Blaze a trail to the kids coming up in ranks is one way to applaude them, but I'd like to add, its nice to have positive role models! There is no greater compliment than someone trying to follow in your shoes! Nice post Abbey!

How come these posts keep showing up on the preps forum? Shouldn't they be in the "next level" forum? But congrats to these players, though.

How come we never see anything posted about how former Triangle lighting, Carolina Widcats or Carolina Cardinal players are doing? These teams have put way more girls on college teams!!!

    Come on

It is a mere technicality where these fine ladies get their props. Congrats to all these fine student athletes!! Weather the shout outs end up here or "Next Level" I don't really care. As for the other TB teams --way to go all NC "Next Level" gals. We should all celebrate their sucesses.

I would love to hear about the progress....

...of these players as well. Pardon me, but I don't think Abbeys intent was to leave out any one else. He stated nice facts that to me are TBR worthy regardless of where the thread is posted. We've read earlier posts of other accomplishments from kids who are now in college and have done something considered newsworthy. As for the Lightning, Ally Burr, my buddy, has only pitched an inning or two at NCSU so far, Brittany Ausley, SS for UNCG is having a nice year to date, and Jadir Garcia, Georgtown, I've not seen any news about her yet. The Cardinals?, BMac can fill us in on these great players soon. Nice thread.

It's great that the older girls have paved the way for the younger classes of players. You can say they opened the door for recognizing the talent level that NC has. Now you are seeing more & more "Carolina Girls" on those college rosters as it should be. Thanks a bunch ladies !!!
