Tough start for the Panthers. Reminds me of South Meck in 2005 who started out 0-3 by losing to North Meck on a HR and blowing a lead late on a couple of HRs to Hopewell and yet ended in the state finals. Would not surprise me if Providence followed suit.

    Tough week for Richmond

Its been a tough week for the Raiders. We first get Butler and a dose of Tewell and Hearell then along comes Wesleyan Christian and Hickernell and to finish off the week we get Weddington and a super dose of Pilkington. I sure am glad tomorrow is Sunday. Oh I forgot we got Charlotte Christian and Ardrey Kell next week. Maybe it will Rain!

Charlotte Christian: 11 Christ School: 8

Charlotte Christian fell behind Christ School in the first game as the Greenies got off the bus swinging the bats. A leadoff double followed by a single and another double of the fence and when the first half inning ended it was 2-0 off of Christian starter Senior Mason Bradley. In the second a leadoff single followed by two walks and then SS Aneko Knowles hit a grand slam over the left field fence to put the Greenies up 6-0. In the meantime Jr. Ali Knowles (LHP) was shutting down the Knights. The Knights pushed across a run in the third, but the Greenies answered with a run of their own. Soph. Jake Watson came in to pitch the 5th and 6th and gave up one run on one hit to slow down the Christ School. Ali Knowles went down in the 6th when batting. He fouled a ball off his leg and then cramped up and was unable to continue. Aneko Knowles started on the mound in the 6th and Christian's bats came alive. They hit the ball all over the yard and scored 10 runs. SS Adam Hill had a huge bases loaded triple to make the scored 8-6. Davis Martin had a big double driving in two runs. Sr. Jordan Mitchell pitched a 1,2,3 7th to finish the game.

    WP: Jake Watson
    LP: Aneko Knowles

2nd Game: Charlotte Christian: 10 Christ School: 0

In the second game, Andy Clifford (jr) LHP pitched four shutout innings with 7 K's, Pookie Caldwell finished it off with two shutout innings in relief. The Knights hit the ball well during most of the game led by Adam Hill 3-4, Luke Bard 1-2, 2B, 2 BB and Jake Watson 3-3 2 2B's.

    A.C. Reynolds vs T.C. Roberson

Reynolds defeated Roberson 7-6 Friday night with a walk off home run by junior Jake Hill. Hill went 3-4 in the game with 5 RBI's. Phillip Treadway and Matt Overby drove in the other two runs for the Rockets. Sophomore Ryan Jones picked up his first varsity win. Weddington?

Weddington might be 3-0 but have they even played a challenging team?

    Who is "Challenging?"

Weddington beat Charlotte Country Day 13-3 and Charlotte Latin 12-6. Then they beat Richmond Senior 10-0.

Country Day played Charlotte Christian just about even last year. If I'm not mistaken they won the league but Christian went through the tournament and won the State title (again). Country Day is in the "challenging" category. A well coached club that will likely represent the private schools very well in games like the Weddington matchup.

Latin is under 1st year head coach Sammy Serrano. Latin will continue to improve. They scored 6 runs in this contest. I want to see how much they've improved by the time the Jack Sink rolls around.

Richmond is always a good team, isn't it??? Sounds like they may be a bit down this year but I wouldn't be ready to take them out of the "challenging" category either.

I think Weddington has a chance to be very good.

I'm certainly not in favor of categorizing any teams as "not challenging."

Some (unfortunately) deserve it but NOT Charlotte Country Day, Charlotte Latin or Richmond Senior.

    Weddington

is very good and will be a tough out come playoff time. Who wants to face Mr Pilkington in a one and done situation? No one does. They are one of the better teams in the state imo.
