Let's hear about some "TEAM BEFORE SELF" players at school's that are not as strong as others. A true underdog that is playing for the love of the game, not on a "powerhouse" school team and still keeping their head up. My DD's varsity has 4 freshman starters. Also, if you know of any player that is being looked at by colleges based on TB because their high school doesn't make the playoffs.

***Please don't bash your school*** This may be helpful to young ladies not on a strong school team to stay focused and try their best.

    I Think -----

I think we ought to retitle this thread schools that may have players that aren't noticed as well, but have the heart and ambition to better themselves and suceed in what they do for the team. I don't think anybody wants their kid known as an underdog !! I know you didn't mean any negative connotations, but it would be hard to write that so and so is an underdog !!

    oops, Guru is right

Folks, Guru is right! :behead::guns6: I wasn't thinking about that. How about players that are not noticed as well as others, but are "TEAM BEFORE SELF".

    Taylor Buchanan(NCHS)

Taylor Buchanan (#10) is one of two seniors at Newton-Conover. Her dad said she was noticed at the beach last year in a tournament. (Not sure who she played with). She is a hard working 2nd baseman for the Red Devils and is a #2 hitter. She is one of our team captains and works harder than any other player on the field. She has seen winless seasons at NC, but keeps coming out to play a sport she loves. We are only 5 games into the season and have won more than last year's team. Taylor is looking at either ECU or Coastal Carolina so far.

Britany teer,--- probably one of the best short stops out there, and aslo swings a mean bat.

olivia poplin-- a small girl with a ton of heart. one of the hardest workers i have ever seen, plays 2nd and works year round about like a pitcher has to.

emily darr -- a very good catcher and also swings a mean bat

There are several more out there that lie under the radar that love this game and work as hard as anybody.

also the parents that spend endless hours on the field or on a bucket to try and make their dd better

Amen brother, both are very good players. Would also like to throw out a couple more names including Emily Byrd at dear ole Ledford and Mariah Chalk at Fred T. Foard. Another local kid that doesn't get much attention is Kathy Miller at Southwest Guilford-great kid with some good talent. Also, some Cardinal kids out there at smaller schools, including Sam Wilson (set state record for doubles in a season last year), Michela Calloway, and Chancey Stone at West Stokes, Keely Halsey and Lisha Hill at South Stokes, & Victoria Cook at dear old Parkland.

    Team First

    Taylor Barker at JF Webb.

Probably should have started in the infield last year as a soph. I didn't have anyone else to pitch for the JVs last year. Asked her to stay down and lead the JV team as a pitcher. She didn't even flinch. Still played enough Varsity to Letter. Plays for the Dominators 18U team. She had a couple of college coaches talk to her after some tourn. last fall. Constantly works on her game. Can play any position on the field and hits #3 for us.

As politely and respectful as possible......

...I throw myself out here by saying.......TB is WAY more marketable for kids REGARDLESS of any HS teams winning ways. .....but...no one can argue against the worthiness of playing for a year after year powerhouse HS team. There is a place/school, college, for EVERY kid in the mix. Is it Tenn., UNC. USC. ? Maybe not, but there are bookoos and bookoos of AWESOME educational opportunities AND fastpitch programs possible! TB is geared to promote organizations and their abilty, coaches, adm., and players, to the narrow focus of getting a kid in the recruiting game. Thats Great! HS is geared for an entirely different reason, but CAN have some of the same results. Good Luck! Fishman.
