opinions on being able to play college without hs ball. will colleges hold it against a dd for choosing not to play hs ball or do you think the colleges know about all the bs that goes on in hs ball [ not all schools ] and not hold it against them ?

The answer is NO , but the real question is how much exposure will your DD get from high school ball, that is why the showcase tournaments are designed for the next level player and for college coaches to view them while in their environment. Tell me other than not liking the high school coach or despising the other players if you love the game why wouldn't you play high school ball if nothing else to stay in shape for travel ball?? If I were a college coach I would want to know why you weren't playing high school ball. In other words what if you get mad at the college coach / players are you going to leave and go elsewhere?? Think about It !!!

They're not going to hold anything against a girl that can play. Even if she just walks up and asks to try out. The key is, being able to play.

Only ONE of the keys is being able to play. the more important (imho) is having the grades and sat scores to get the most out of your education. I think colleges would take a blue chip player no matter if they played at HS or not, but for the avg, girl, playing in HS teaches time management skills and the ability to set priorties. Both are important when attending college and playing a varsity sport. I beleive that TB and HS ball have to work in unison to provide the student athlete not only the athletic training but also the skill sets mentioned above to maximize their sucess and enjoyment of the college experience.

    Absolutely

There is a life after softball. After HS, 4 more years at most for most. Then hopefully another 50 + years of "real life". Great Post!

    You're right if.....

.....you pitch mph hit 80! Common sense applies here to me. If I were a college coach, and was truly interested in a player, and other than an injury to her or grade concerns, or real personal issues beyond her control, then not playing HS would be a red flag for me. JMO
