I have no problem with tight strike zones as long as "blue" calls it the same both ways. Meadows is a great pitcher, he will bounce back.

Well, personally, I believe Pinyon umpiring that game was more than a conflict of interest.

Game08, how so, because Pinyon coaches football at another Rowan school? I see how you may think he would favor the Rowan team, but honestly he has been calling big baseball games in this area for years. I have disagreed with some of his calls in the past, but no more than any other ump,,,,,, and to be fair, he's pretty consistent. I would much rather have an experienced ump like him in big games,,, than some rook.

    Please explain

Does this mean that he really called some strikes BALLS? I am always confused by this statement.

Maybe we can get some answers on what a tight strike zone means? I want to call as many pitches as possible correct!!!

Stretchy, see my last post, this ump is known in the area simply because he coaches football at a neighboring school, but its a rival school. I would agree he shouldn't call games for his own school, but as I stated earlier, I have seen him call numerous times, and honestly, to be fair to him, IMO he does a good job overall. For me, I've just never had any reason to question his calling games in the past. But thats just me.

I believe he used to coach at East Rowan before he moved to Mooresville, after Carter retired, he was one of the two finalists to get the Mooresville football head coaching position, it obviously went to Barclay Marsh instead. Pinyon left for Salisbury, where he remains the head coach and Athletic Director, and even without this past, a Rowan school district employee umpiring a game with a Rowan county school in it just doesn't quite seem fair to me. Even if he called it flawless, which many would argue he didn't, it is still a conflict of interest.

I understand his Rowan/Mooresville ties,,, all I'm saying is Joe calls a fair game. He's just a football coach who enjoys calling baseball games during "his" offseason. And truth is, he does know a lot of people at various schools, but the only time anyone ever has a problem with his calling, is when their team loses.

East Rowan Tough Schedule This Week

Speaking of East Rowan, their schedule this week is as follows:

    Tues vs Lake Norman
    Wed vs North Davidson
    Friday vs South Rowan

I wish the N. Davidson game wasn't scheduled in between those two, because I doubt the Knights will see either Holmes nor Shive (East #1 and #2 pitchers) with the two tough in conference games on Tuesday and Friday.
