4' forward and 3' backward from the angle on the plate which is about the middle of the plate not the very back point

    Photo Software

You can never spend to much money on camera bodies and lens. But who has all of that extra money. I would get a photo software program that will allow you to crop (size) your photos. Most will allow you adjust the color and lighting too.

Unless you spend big bucks your never going to get quality photos at night or indoors (volleyball) so just get you photos while there is daylight and be happy with them. For indoors and night events, video seems to be the way to go.

Remember softball is an action sport so 250 or better shutterspeed (500 works for me). When cropping your images you only want what's important in the photo. Think of each image as telling a story and you'll be fine.

    I hope this helped.

    I'll buy the camera that.....

.....gets only pictures like the one of the kid batting, she's got #9 on her jersey! Nice clear awesome pic of this kid! ........BTW, all of Comets pics seem to me, to be extremely clear. Its entirely possible if not evident, that the cameraman has alot to do with the quality of his pics. Smile, and say Cheeze!!...oh I meant to say smile Paul and pay Cheeze!

    thanks

Thanks, I use Photoshop Elements to edit my pics and that makes a big difference but I just would like more vibrant color sometimes. Our side of the field at home is horrible for photos. If we have any sun at all that day, it is right in our eyes so I get washed out shots. I prefer away games for photos because of this, lol.

Thanks marlin. I use an old sony, the one with the 3.5 floppy disk. None of the pictures posted were touched up. What I like about that camera is that it doesn't have the delay like some of the newer digital cameras have. Hope to see ya soon. Keep Charlie straight!!

    Delay......

....is so right. The pictures you've posted are much more clear, no disrepect to any of the others period. But I know the TBR folks can see what I see. Very good thread about camera/film/etc stuff. I'd like to see many, many more pics showing off our kids!
