alright, i need some help. in the last week, we have been told that the 2004 black anderson rocket tech is legal, and then illegal. last night it was illegal because it didnt have the home plate looking asa stamp on it, even though it was grandfathered and is on the ASA approved list. in the same breath, this ump told us any bats with that ASA stamp are legal.....i asked about the combat lv and she said it was legal to her???????

so i figure that the best way is to approach it like this: i need a copy of the rules that state that nc follows asa approved list. and when the asa web site is working, i'm gonna download the approved list of bats. i really dont care about the non approved bats, thats their problem, but my girls use the black rt's constantly.

    can anyone help????

Good question Cheese. We try every time there's a new ump. We have been allowed to use it more than not. My DD was NOT allowed to swing hers yesterday but did swing the new one. What if there is a scuff mark where the stamp is from a ball?? Do they throw it out also?

A summary of the current rule (1-5-4), per the NFHS web site is:

Clarifies that a legal bat must meet the 2004 ASA Bat Performance Standard, bear either the 2000 or 2004 certification mark and not be on the ASA non-approved list.

    (from http://www.nfhs.org/web/2007/07/2008_nfhs_softball_rules_changes.aspx)

For the ASA non-approved list visit:

    http://asasoftball.com/about/certified_equipment.asp

    NCAA website (http://www1.ncaa.org/eprise/main/pl....doc?ObjectID=34602&ViewMode=0&PreviewState=0) states:

The NCAA has adopted the ASA 2004 Bat Standard. Coaches are required to print the list of non-approved bats each Monday during the season to provide to visiting coaches and umpires at each home game. Bat certification testing is on-going throughout the year, so the list may change during the course of the season.

The link below will take you to the updated list. Also, it is highly recommended that the color list, which shows the non-approved bats, be used to make the process easier.

(which is the link I just listed above)

According to what I see it should be. It does have the 2000 certification mark on it, right?
