I agree up to a certain point, but for every action, there is a reaction.
    This game had;
    4 IW's
    5 BB's
    4 HBP's
    Draw your own conclusions.

I really can't because I was not there. I respect your opinion and certainly understand your frustration with wanting to see a young man get a chance to do his thing. Trust me I understand. But I was not there so I can really draw any conclusion other than they didnt want RS to beat them so they IBB him.

Hey Coach Fox came to see my son play last year. He saw him pitched around in his first ab and IBB his next two. Needless to say my son was upset he didnt get a chance to swing it. But you know what I would have done the same thing in that situation. First base is open 2 outs - he aint going to beat me.

I wasn't at the game either, and wouldn't know Richie Shaffer if I bumped into him on the street.
I just happened to notice the 3 IW's in the game summary.
I do know Dusty Quattlebaum, and his dad told me how frustrating it was to watch his son being pitched around all through the 07 HS season.
Players should not be penalized for being great.
I think coaches who would issue 3 IW's to the same player in the same game need to ask themselves, "Is this really in the best interests of my players, and the game itself or do I have another motive ?"

Intentional Walk - Win The Game

"You play to win the game." Coach Edwards.

This is not a summer high school showcase tournament where you want to see the best against the best and see how they match up - that is what summer showcase tournaments are for, and that is why you see so many college coaches at these showcases.

Try to win the state championship by playing REAL baseball = play to win.

You don't win state championships during the regular season, sport.

    IW'S

Its hard to watch a high school player get walked all the time just because he has worked hard to be a great hitter! Its high school ball why not let a pitcher see if he has what it takes to get a good or great hitter out! Look what this would do for him and his team if he did get him out! Intentionally walking a hitter in a game one time could be understood, but when a team pitches around or intentionally walks him more than once is crazy!!

    How to Win State Championship

Hey sport - best way to win state championship:

    - Win conference (this means win your conference games, sport)
    - Win conference tournament
    - Good seeding in state tourney

Not saying anything about how great any player is - and he is a truly great player - but make somebody else beat you.

    Not so, sport.
    2007 flashback, a year ago.
Watauga leading Alexander Central going into last inning.
Watauga pitches to Dustin Harrington bottom of the 7th.
He hits a monster shot over the CF light pole for the walk-off win.
Even though it was the opponent, I remember that much more fondly than I would an IW.
    Fast forward.
Alexander Central gets 3rd seed in conference.
Watauga gets fourth seed in conference, but best draw in the entire 4A tournament.

    Seeding Issue

Good points. But doesn't that point to a really poor job of seeding?
