Gryphons knock the Knights off the horse

Big Game. Big Crowd. Big Hype......but in the end it was a let down of a game.

Errors gave each team a run in the first inning. Rocky Mount got doubles by William Barringer (1-3), Ben Fish (1-3, 2RBI) and Pitcher Jim Leggett (2-3, 2RBI) to score 3 runs in the 3rd inning to take a 4-1 lead.
Northern looked like they were going to answer right back in the top of the fourth getting 3 hits, singles by Pitcher Tyler Joyner, Tyler Clark (1-2,RBI) and a double by Wesley Joyner (2-3) but they stranded the tying runs on the bases. After that the Knights went 1 for 12 at the plate. Steve Moore had two hits for NNash. Chris Berry had an rbi base hit for RM.

Jim Leggett got the win tossing 6 innings allowing 6 hits no walks 6 strikeouts and 2 runs 1 earned.
Tyler Joyner took the loss going 4 1/3 allowing 6 hits 2 walks 8 k's 6 runs 4 earned. Northern had 5 errors in the game.

    Final Score: RM 6 (7-3) NN 2 (4-3)

NOTES: RM batters 7,8,9 were 0 for 7 with 7 whiffs. UNCP, High Point and Lenior Rhyne coaches were in attendance.

    WP: Ryan Dull (6-0) 7IP 5H 1R 0ER 1BB 10K
    LP: Alex Saddler 2 1/3 IP 3H 2R 2ER 1BB 2K
    Nick Rhodes 3 2/3 IP 1H 0R 0ER 0BB 5K

    Leading Hitters:
    EF: Ryan Dull 1 for 3 2RBI, Robby Swab 1 for 1 2BB , Shane Dickerson 1 for 3 2B
    P: Seth Mahaffey 1 for 3 RBI, Nick Rhodes 1 for 2

Ryan Dull and Robby Swab have really put this East Forsyth team on their back. Ryan has delievered every start and Robby is leading the team hitting wise. Adam Saddler and Nick Rhodes pitched very well. Rhodes comes from a low 3/4 slot and has a very good slider that got a lot of our hitters out. Parkland is a good team and should make some noise in the PT3-A. They have some quality hitters and have good arms. PlateDad it was a pleasure to meet you and OldAngels it was good to see you again!

East Forsyth 8-2 (2-0) at Glenn tomorrow at 7:30
    Parkland 6-4 (1-1)

Alex Saddler was the starting pitcher. It was a good contest. Bats were a little quite for Parkland. Ryan really had it working last night. I would also say that the ump was a pretty good around the plate. Good luck on the rest of East season. I guess we will see you next year.

Ragsdale is 11-1 on the season and 5-0 in Conference play.

They will play Northeast tonight @ 7:30.

Tuesday's results were: Ragsdale 13, Southern Guilford 7
