From what I understand of this game, North Davidson made numerous mistakes and Davie (as good teams do) capitalized on those mistakes. Sounds like ND misplayed a fly ball and Davie went on to score 4 runs afterwards. ND also failed on 3 sac bunt attempts and left a runner on third with no outs twice. Congrats to Davie. Big win.

I forsee much bunting and situational hitting practice in the near future for the Black Knights.

As a side note - Levi Micheal and Tyler Hanover both homered again for ND.

    DH Conley @ JH Rose

Everything we expected this game to be. Both teams undefeated in conference play. Throw out the school classifications and "poll rankings" when these 2 play, cause it just comes down to kids who have been playing with and against each other since old enough to pick up a ball. Great crowd and some fun baseball.

Pitcher's duel, with Tanner Merritt getting the win, giving up only 3 hits. Chase Hardee was on the mound for DHC and threw well, only giving up 2 hits (both doubles). 2 wild pitches with runners on third led to the only scoring by the Rampants on Hardee. Gray Compton hit a solo shot late in the game for DHC's only score. Mark Wilder came in for Rose in the 7th to close, recording 1K and 2 ground balls to second, for the routine 4-3 outs.

    DH Conley 1
    JH Rose 2

    Leading Hitters:
JH Rose - Gray Garner, Patrick Roy
    DH Conley - Gray Compton

Next up for JH Rose, at South Central Friday @ 7

Looks like the decision by Foard's coach to use his best two pitchers this week on bottom feeders and not save one for Friday's game against Hibriten was wise.........

as long as doppler stays green! :nailbite2:

Though the conference season is at the half way point and Foard is 3 games behind Hibriten, the Tigers still control their own fate. Look for Wyant and Rothlin to continue to throw well. Surely, defensive improvement must be a point of emphasis with the coaching staff.

    Good luck, Tigers.

Area roundup: Nygard hurls 2nd straight no-hitter as Hunt decks Bruins

Just call him "Double No-Hit" Nygard.

Mirroring the feat of Cincinnati Reds hurler Johnny Vander Meer in the 1940s, Hunt senior Justin Nygard fired his second no-hitter in as many starts in the Warriors' 10-0 win at Beddingfield on Wednesday.

Like his gem against Greene Central on March 24, Nygard only needed five innings due to Hunt's prolific offense, which banged out eight hits and benefited from five Bruins' errors.

It was the third no-hitter this season for the Warriors as Zack Lee accomplished the feat against Eastern Wayne in March.

Nygard walked one and struck out 10 as he helped the Warriors move to 3-2 in the 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference and 9-5 overall. Beddingfield slumped to 0-5 in the ECC.

Hunt batted around in the first inning, scoring six times highlighted by Kyle Pittman's bases-loaded triple.

Cody Britt had a run-scoring single, part of three RBIs for him while Jerome Richardson and Zack Lee each went 2 for 4. Richardson drove in two runs.

The Warriors visit Kinston on Friday night before facing host Rocky Mount in the Rocky Mount Invitational Tournament in Saturday's nightcap at 7.

    Score by innings:

    Hunt 600 13 -- 10

    Beddingfield 000 00 -- 0

    WP-Justin Nygard. LP-Zach Rodgers.

Hope this means Justin(Nygard) is making progress with regards to throwing strikes. It was obvious when this boy was 13 that he was blessed with a live arm. As he got older he developed some control issues that have clung to him throughout HS. He can roll it up there 88-90 on a regular basis, he just needed for the strike zone to be a little bigger. Good luck to him the rest of the season.

    What?

Shealy and Shuey - That's a bunch of offense to take out of a lineup. Hope the SM coach will rest them when they play Butler!
