I agree. This is an absolute shame. Coaches have to worry about getting their teams prepared to play and they coach because they care about kids and want to have an impact on young peoples lives. It is a shame that someone loses their job and no longer gets to have that impact, because of a few compalints and because the administration had a problem with some of the things he did. The way it sounds to me, at Patton, if the administration doesn't like you for whatever reason they will try there best to get rid of you. It's rediculous.

I guess the slogan for the patton monarchy is the same as former pro wrestler/football player goldberg: WHOS NEXT.Which is a terrible they are this way.It takes time and years to build a program from the ground and patton will never be successful if they keep a revolving door of coaches year after year.As for expectations if you expect much u dont get much.

Where is the AD in all of this?

Where is the AD and his/her job evaluation? He/she hired two coaches that have been forced out in a year, or less. Sounds like he/she should have a performance appraisal done at this point in time.

Did the AD not know the coaching and teaching style of this coach prior to hiring? I am sure this coach did not change his ways when he accepted this job. What happened that was a surprise?

Of course, I realize that some of these decisions may have been made at a different level - both the hiring part and the firing part. If this is the case, forgive and forget my comments.

I have been an AD for 13 months now. It seems to me that this AD is there to schedule teams and get the umpires lined up. He/She may have had a say in hiring this person, but the bottom line is that the Principals have the final say so. I haven't been an AD very long, but I don't know that many AD's that has TOTAL CONTROL over the Athletic program.
When I was hired last January I was told that I could hire who I wanted, and fire coaches that I think should be fired. Now that my school has changed Principals the hiring and firing goes directly to him with me giving him advice. To be honest I do not like that. I want total control over my athletic department. I hope this helps.

appreciate your comments coach, it's hard to imagine for me, that you wouldnt have the power to hire and fire who you saw fit or unfit, but if thats the way it is, it just doesnt seem right....jmho

I agree. I hate to say this but alot of AD's are nothing more than puppets. I believe my job is heading that way. That's when it will be time for me to go.

Speaking from experience......as an AD you do not want total control. The athletic program is only one part of the educational environment. There is no way as AD there can be an understanding of the total picture.

You want an administration who values your opinion, seeks your input, and is willing to take the heat in your stead when problems arise. There are too many legalities and budget issues for an AD to want total control.

    JMHO........

From what I have been told, there is more there than just him being a coach. Rumor has it that there was certain things that he was not doing as a teacher. Either way, it sucks for the girls who have to deal with the situation now. An adult can deal with it, but I think all admin should think about the players before doing something such as this. Good luck girls!!!
