    LOL

That can be answered in 1 word: pitching. The Western girls made the plays in the field when a ball was hit, but even those balls that were very hitable but not strikes were taken. Other team played walk-ball (take sign over and over and over and over), and did not rely on their bats at all.

Unfortunately, we do not have a pitcher on our JV team. This means the team has to rely young ladies that are trying to learn how to pitch a ball when a Varsity pitcher cannot come down to help out - and due to our current schedule, last week and this week our Varsity cannot go down without violating the weekly game rule.

Softball is not walk ball, IMHO. Western made the plays in the field and put those bats in gear - even on the numerous balls thrown at them. It is not hard to win a game when you rarely have to swing and can just dance around the plate LOL

And this is what I mean by outplayed - Hits + plays in the field = played; walking + taking + being outhit 10-1 = outplayed.

:ban:I vote that walk ball should be banned :angel1:

    I understand Tri16......

...exactly what you're saying. It sucks when any team has no pitching, or atleast, just getting the ball over the plate. Walks do dictate a game. What chaps my @#$ is the other 8 kids on defense never get a real shot in the game and both teams batters are lucky to get a good pitch to hit. And God bless the sweetheart on the mound that endures the criticism from others! You know, it can be 75 degrees, and no humidity, yep, the city of commerce day, and the umps are looking hard for 21 outs! JMO

    West Lincoln 5

    North Lincoln 6

was a good game, North jumped out to a 3-0 lead right away. West came back and had it 5-3,,,,,North went on to win it in the seventh. Both teams did some good hitting, the difference was errors, North had none and not sure but had to be 3 or more committed by Wests defense.

    still a fan.

I'm glad to see my Providence Panthers are stayin strong this season. [BIG P U KNOW!] It's hard to keep up from across the country, but this board is a good way to check up on em. Keep the updates coming and for all the girls playin, keep up the hard work, respect your coaches, give it 100% between the lines and keep your grades up! Your dreams really can come true!

Thanks to all the coaches, parents, players, umpires, athletic directors, field staff etc. that helped get me where I wanted to be and are giving all their time, money, effort and knowledge to numerous girls day in and day out. You guys are changing lives!

    Much love from San Diego!

you might find this a joke, but it is a common problem in most schools with a jv program. it is in ours also. some teams are overloaded with pitching talent, others are sucking hind wind. the limit of three games per week dictates whether or not you get a varsity pitcher and some games are just that, a walk fest. i would like to give credit to some of our umpires who see this situation and open the strike zone for jv pitching, basically if you can hit it, its a strike. all in an effort to stop the walks and make the batter at least swing the bat and put the ball in play. We will never see a limit on the number of walks allowed per inning, which is fair, but i would also like to give credit to the other jv coaches in our conference, who tell their batters up front to hit anything they can when it becomes a walk fest. i have even witnessed a base coach telling their runner to step off the bag in an effort to stop the inning and try to make it a competative game. jv ball is about training, and no one learns anything in the right way when your ahead 30-0 solely on walks. jmho
