Looks like Furl is giving Brandt a run for his money in that conference.

    Here she is

    (6-12, 2-6) McDowell 3
    (11-7, 4-5) Watauga 1

McDowell pitcher Jeremy Freeman was dealing tonight scattering five hits and a run in the complete game victory. Jeremy struck out 10 batters. McDowell as a team is gaining some confidence. The Titans host Burns tomorrow and will travel to East Burke friday.

North Davidson got a much needed win last night behind a 4 hit, 11 K performance by Clay Watson. Jarrett Albright and Zach White had two hits apeice for the Knights. One of White's hits being a 2-run homer.

ND has another big one on Friday night at Davie County.

Was good to see the guys get the bats going in the third after being down one off of the MT homer in the second. They kept their composure while being down...and that is huge! Clay pitched a great game, with great pitch placement and control.

After West Forsyth's loss to RJR, the Knights can knot things back up in the CPC with a win at Davie County. Should be a great game!

Just a few more details on last night's game down in Marion...

Freeman gave up a couple hits and threw a couple wild pitches to allow the only Watauga run to score. After that he was dealing pretty good. From the 3rd thru 7th he faced four batters in two of those frames, and rest of the time he mowed them down 1,2,3.

Moore and Minford pitched a combined three innings for Watauga and they both were having a hard time consistantly keeping it in the strike zone. Sharpe pitched the last three innings to keep Watauga close. McDowell scored all three of their runs in the 2nd inning. Eli Miller got a triple to start it, Brent Rowe blooped a single into left field, then Watuaga left fielder got wild with the throw back into the infield which allowed Rowe to advance to 2nd. Add a walk and a couple pitches that got past the catcher and then a squeeze by Colby Brown and the Titans had a 3-1 lead.

McDowell even with the bad record has played very well this season. The Titans still have games with East Burke, South Caldwell and Reynolds so its very possible that McDowell could have a big influence in how the conference standings eventually pans out.
