    No Offense !!!

The "ANNOYING" cheers that you claim are what makes the great game what it is today...I've been hearing those "ANNOYING" cheers for years, and I love them. It helps bring comradery between the girls !!!

I guess that softball is just a different game than baseball. If we ever did anything like that we would be punished. Even when I was a kid we weren't allowed to have "chants". But, even now in college we are expected to be standing and cheering for our teammates. Our Comradery is just fine without the "Ho hom homerun...homerun" stuff. Maybe I am thinking of baseball and softball too alike, but i think in any sport when you do something great you need to act like you have done it before and you will do it again.

I think LR hit my point on hte head. I thought the game was great yesterday, but I thought the chanting was distracting - so I dont think you can attribute the greatness fo the came ot the chanting.

On the other hand, it's better than what the other team was doing - literally leaving the dugout to go to their parents for snacks, "coaching", and bitching about coaching/umpiring.

I'm saying it just seems like there should be a happy medium in there.

I love it. It may drop in the "cool" meter...but so what. Most things that are anti-PC I like. Do you know that little league has banned players from saying, "swing, batter, batter"...uhg!!!!

They're having fun with it; the teams don't seem to have a problem with it.

    Yes, ANNOYING

At 10U I can see it, but at 16 years old it it looks ridiculous. Instead of shaking their butts in the dugout they should be watching the game and learning from it. They get so caught up in doing their cheerleading they forget there is a game going on. What really looks bad is a team that is getting the crap beat out of them continuing to sing silly songs especially ones that are negative to the opposing team in the dugout. I say let your bat do your singing for you. If you play good ball you don't need to sing to get under the other team's skin. I'm all for standing on the fence in the dugout saying encouraging things to your own teammates, but leave the silly songs to the 10 year olds.

    Cheer For Your Team

Anything a team does in a positive manner is fine by me. I don't like the negative things that sometimes go on. If it helps your team stay involved in the game more power to you.
On a side note I'd like to you TBR's are we going too far?
Our players have each chosen a "batter up" song. Its played before she gets into the box, 10-20 seconds. When she steps into the box we stop the song and announce thier name. If you've seen college ballgames it is done there too. Playing Southern Lee Friday Night some of thier parents threatened to "whup some a**" because they thought it was messing with the pitcher. Our AD asked us to stop to prevent any further escalation, so we did. Do you think playing songs for batters is inappropriate?

Ah Shucks, I hate I missed that one. It seems I'm always in the wrong place at the wrong time.
