Absolutely agree Cheeze

IMHO there is absolutely no benefit to walk ball. Do the players doing the walking learn how to better track the ball, hit the ball? No. Let's face it, kids are on JV for a reason - be it their fielding, but most often it is their bat. The young ladies walking around the bases are not learning to improve their hitting skills. Of what benefit is walk ball to them? Other, of coruse, than being able to say we won 31-15.

But is that a real victory?

In my eyes, not when the opposition is hitting that ball into play, and moving those batters by the actions of their bats.

And certainly, those players in the field when the walking is being done are not improving upon their fielding abilities.

Our middle school coach was, as kids would say, the bomb. Several times our team was slaughtering the opposition. He would stop the stealing - and numerous times ended an inning by having the players at 3B step off the base - intentionally and obviously - so they could be called out.

 

Indeed they have

Harnett Central has now racked up three losses for the season - 2 to Triton and one to Southern Lee. Triton has fallen only once - to Southern Lee - a loss they will try to avenge in Friday's game on Southern's home turf.

Parkland also led by Victoria Cook who was 3-4 and Freshman Samantha Dunevant who goes 2-3 w/4RBI and her first ever high school homerun in only her second varsity start.

Morgan Myers and Katey Beck combine for a one-hitter striking out 8 in 4 innings. Led hitting wise by Ashley Myers who was 3-4 w/3RBI and a HR and ShaDawn Higgins who was 2-4 w/2RBI

Parkland now 12-3 (3-2) with Reagan coming to town Friday night. Hoping to have our senior middle infield back by then. Comeback soon LeAnn and miss Pitts.

Makenzie McAteer is her name. She pitches some, but normally plays SS for Parkwood and has been having a fantastic year at SS and on offense. Hit a bomb out yesterday v. Marvin Ridge at home which is a shot because PW's fence is about 210-220 I believe and the wind was blowing in...She'll be one to watch in the coming years. She's a sophomore. She is also an established outfielder in summer ball with some good infield experience.

Nice game/win tonight for you guys Coach Crego.
