Thought this might be fun, informative, and start some intersting conversations....

    Hover parents:
This seems to have gotten worse in recent years. I have seen way too many games where the girls leave the dugout to talk to their parents, the parents actually go into the dugout to talk to their girls, or parents stand right behind the dugout and talk to their girls. I don't understand why this is happening and it really bothers me. The girls need to be with their team and paying attention to the game not wondering around and/or chatting with their friends or parents. For the parents, leave your children alone when the game is going on and if they leave the dugout, tell them to turn around and get back in there.

    Cell phones:
This seems to be getting VERY bad, almost out of control. Again, I have seen way too many games where the girls are sitting in the dougout talking or texting on their cell phones while the game is going on. I actually saw one girl talking on her cell phone while they were shaking hands after the game. Turn the phones off and put them away!

I agree with both of your points. We as parents are not allowed near the dugout on game day and the girls do not come out in the stands. Our coach also takes the cell phones when the girls get on the bus and gives them back after the game. Both good rules.

    We are 1 for 2

On the team that I help coach, we specifically tell the girls to not leave the dugout, do not call your parents over, and if your parents come over (in or behind the dugout) ask them to leave you alone so you can concentrate on the game.

We also have a hard rule of no cell phones during practice or games. Luckily our team has not had a problem with this but I like the idea of the coach taking the phones and giving them back after the game. That is really the only way to prevent it.

    Coaches are adults....

...and teachers with responsibilities. What Jav Cat is referring to looks to me as......if you, as a player, think talking on the cell, texting, whatever,....and not watching the pitcher to pick up an advantage, then, YOU, young lady will not be prepared to compete when its your turn! Fpitch is dominated by pitchers and a few hitters here and there, gaining an advantage if possible is so cool. Also, how can a player focus on competing in a game that she's not watching? ......The coach absolutely is to mandate a "in the dugout, heads up policy". Thats for the kids best interest.

what irks me is when an obviously better team is whooping a lesser talented team, the head coach, after building a 10-0 lead in three innings, after taking out the other teams thirdbaseman on a slide, keeps pounding hits to the hole, keeps slapping, keeps trying to turn singles to doubles, sending girls on second to home on singles, keeps stealing, doesnt call off the dogs even after its 23-0, and when questioned about this between innings says: I cant stop them from hitting, it will ruin their stats??????? never asked them to stop hitting, just would of been more of a showing of sportsmanship to bottle neck them on the bases in a one at a time advance. but hey, karma is great, next year, all your seniors leave and nothing behind them.....

    About the coach again...

This is about the coach, not about the kids.....He has the power (which I have done and will do again) after it is 10-0 or better, to get the field umps attention and have the kids leave early...doesn't do squat to their stats.

Immaturity is a pretty close description....

    IRKED

Umps on cell phones during a game. Cocky coaches, cocky players, cocky parents, cocky umps. Stupid remarks from parents to their daughters during a game, especially if they make an out. Pushy parents playing the political game. Weak kneed coaches who give in to pushy parents demands. Sloppy dressed coaches on the bases. Coaches who run the score up on a team that they're beating the snot out of, but just barely get by when competition shows up.
