    Thought

Could there be a tournament for these type teams so they can have a chance of winning something or being competitive? Maybe even a softball conference in each region for the teams that just can not measure up to normal competition. Just a crazy thought.

There is a fine line when U start asking teams to make outs, leave bases early, strike out, throw balls around etc. Have to be careful allowing kids to use poor mechanics even for a small portion of a game.

Hey at the Abbey we have experiences some beatings as well.

Let me first say that I have witnessed many games described by fhspatriot. It's never fun for either team, but you must tip your hat to the girls for Freedom who had enough pride to come out for the team.

I realize that many students have moved to Patton, but here is my question. Are there students at Freedom that can play the game that did not come out for the team? Do they have any kind of feeder program? Travel team? or did Patton get most of them?

    Upper/lower subdivisions

Sounds like a good idea to me. What about having upper/lower subdivisions within the same conference? They do that in my old man hockey rec league. There is an upper C and a lower C to keep the lesser teams from getting their heads handed to them every game.

Freedom does a few kids who decided to stay at freedom instead of going to patton. They all did it legal.I dont blame them for wanting to stay and play for Coach Fox, a man who has put every thing he has into turing the program around. As for the game braves,Freedom let every player have an at bat,Including 3 kids from the jv team.Thad did every thing he could to stop the game from getting any worse.

    UHHHH...

...Abbey, I love ya brother! drastic times call for drastic measures. Creating a tiered gig sounds great in theory but put in place would suck. IMO. Hey, I say lets start with the HS AD, kick his butt to the curb for not doing something about a floundering program. After that, the chemistry teacher/coach goes back to the lab!

Could you name the Freedom players that live in the Patton district. I believe several are starters aren't they? But like you said they done it legal so that makes it right I guess.:angel1:

I aint getting into another freedom players who decided to stay at freedom discussion. It was their choice and they did what they felt was best for them.I know all these kids and i know there were more reasons than sports that made them stay.Actually theres only 2 who start and they were the two that were denied when everyone else was approved. Its over and I aint discussing the freedom transfer situation anymore.

Here you go Tony.. Quote from yourself!! SCORE McDowell 111- Burns--26!Burns is not a first year school by a long shot. What do you suggest these powerhouse teams do in this situation just stand outside and dribble the ball for 16 minutes. I know it's not pretty but you have to play ball. Now I would not condone a team pouring in 3's with a score this out of hand but you have to run your offense and defense. I also believe it can hurt the winning team also. When you have a blowout game like this and then have to play a Wakefield it can't help.

Sound familiar? When it's not precious McDowell Lady Titan Basketball and it's me, you are very quick to complain. We were nice against Patton, what do you suggest we do- stand in the box and strike out? If a team can't catch routine fly balls, or throw strikes then other quality teams can't do much about it.. We got calle dout for "leaving early one time with bases loaded and our #3 hitter up, 5 kids worked on hitting left handed/slapping, 3 jv kids got at bats, one got an at bat that's having knee surgery Tuesday and got a hit. I told the umpire to widen the zone on us as well and a kid threw that is our #2 pitcher, but hasn't ever thrown in a varsity game before.

The transfer issue shouldn't be brought up. No one from Freedom's baseball team is on the board complaining about the baseball players that transferred and they haven't won a game. Our school board approved them and they are legit. Patton will have a couple kids that live in our district next season, but attend the feeder middle school.

Braves- other way around. Patton is the school that is new and didn't get any of the "softball" kids. They got the "baseball" kids. We have two feeder teams now at Freedom. I don't think anyone has started anything at Patton yet other than a 14U travel team that is mostly middle school kids. They will/are good players and will be ok in a couple years.

Damn let it rest... Freedom done what any other good team would do. You can't just quit playing because the other team isn't very good. I don't even have a kid in your conf. and I'm getting tired of the Patton/Freedom talk. It sounds like they played the whole team in the game and thats all they can do. Let it go....
