I enjoyed watching the expressions on the guy's face in the red shirt in the background. Great job Katy!

The Way the Game is Played

I brought my 10U dd to this tournament to raise her awareness and inquisitiveness about how this great game is played at a higher level. Not only did she watch some fantastic softball from some of the greatest programs in the state, but she witnessed a community, a family, a coach, and a multitude of softball families come together to memoralize one of their own in such an honorable way... and I did use the word "witness" intentionally, because that's exactly what this event was. God turned tragedy into triumph... "Safe at Home."

    Hard Slide!!!

I just hope the runner was not injured. Head first into the catcher looked like a painful out to me.

    big "D"

I agree; looks like the catcher made a good play to catch a bad throw and make a tag. I think most times the defense gets rewarded on close plays like this.

The catcher's position in the first photo tells the story. The runner slid into the right hand batter's box, not the plate. The tag was made before the runner found the plate. Still, its softball (and softball photography) at its best!
