Just a question....to enter a showcase tournament as a 16u team, do all players have to be at least rising sophomores? If so, does that apply to all sanctions: ASA, AAU, NSA...?
    Thanks for the assistance!

    No...

I think that all of the sanctions require that a 16u player be 16 or less before Dec 31 or Jan 1 of that year. If a player turns 17 on Jan. 15, for example, she can still play 16U...she has to be 16 or under on Jan 1. High School class doen't matter, only age.

The only reason I referred to sophomores was looking at the entry requirements for NSA showcase tournaments, it stated players had to be rising sophomores or above. It makes sense from the college coaches perspective, they only want to see players they can recruit now or a short time in the future!
    Thanks for the answer!

    Some Tournaments Especially ASA

Some of your bigger showcases only allow upper classman to participate, but the majority of the ASA will allow the different age groups to participate..here is the key just remember the showcase is what it says "SHOWCASE", and it is designed to get the upper classman into college...The answer is NO to your question.

    One tourney

Of all the showcases we play only the Bandits requires the players to be mostly juniors and seniors. We were not able to play in their summer tournament this year due to our young team. However, all the other Showcases have allowed us to play including Dynamites, Colorado, Cardinal Classic, Plantation. 16U could be different.:book2:
