Dylan West, jr, Mooresville hit a bomb at Lake Norman that fueled the Mooresville comeback. Wind in our face and it cleared the fence left center 30 feet high. He absolutely crushed it.

East Rowan's Shive put one on the building in left field @ Mooresville. That was a shot. Also heard Hunter Pate, NW Cabarrus put one over the green mesh in centerfield at NW Cabarrus Tuesday night. That mesh is about 30 ft tall behind the centerfield wall.

It does have short side 290 left line with a twenty foot or so fence that runs about 50 to 75 estimate drops to a six foot grads to 345 left center 405 dead center then 345 right center to 315 right. We do have a few go but for the most part even going the short side most would be average 345 or more in left.

I'll get to see that park in a couple years when Ragsdale and Parkland are conference mates

    speaking of which

that will be one helluva good 4A baseball conference with Glenn, Ragsdale, SW Guilford, NW Guilford, East Forsyth and Parkland.

5 that come to mind in no particular order

1 hit by greg holt at west that went past the trees in left field. line shot that got up.

1 hit by jess maloney at west same are but almost hit a plane it was so high as well as long. happend to be a walk-off against mt tabor to go to the regional finals (2002)

another one hit at west by steve lefaivre- a still rising line drive that hit the top of the light pole. i still believe it would have gone to the football field.

garrison lassiter hit 2 of the longest balls i have seen lately, at mt tabor. both landed on the football field

the hardest may have been hit by tommy gregg at phillips bridge road. it hit a tree in center field (only about 310) but it bounced all the way back to 2nd base:N1saywha:

We are working hard to update the field. $$$$$$ everyone knows that. Hope we can pass your test. Mine will be gone from the HS playing field after this season. But, he will be back from time to time. I hope to get things going on restrooms and a real concession stand this summer.

    Eric Breitenstein

Another one from last year, I remember Watauga's Eric Breitenstein hitting an absolute blast off of Dustin Harrington in the top of the 1st inning at Alexander Central that easily cleared their indoor hitting facility behind left field, I think somebody said it was probably 430'-440' by the time it landed.

    Local Legend

Legend has it, that Sonny Nye, who passed this past year due to complications of diabetes, once hit a HR over the center field fence at my high school – Frankfort High in Michigan. The marker there, now that they have moved in the fence, reads 467’ (I think is was 479 when I played there). Not only did he clear the fence but the ball carried over the road and landed on the roof of the lumber company across the street. This was in 1965, long before the advent of metal bats. I guess the wind must have been blowing out that day.

My son was playing there several years ago and someone else from out of town was asking about that shot 40 years later. And I would bet that if you went to the game there tomorrow and start talking long ball, that’s where the conversation would soon be.

    One will I never forget

A few years back we were playing Greene Central in the state playoffs. They had a big ole boy at first base named Woody Corbitt. Bottom of the 2nd inning Woody comes to the plate. Coach Ferrell to Coach May. "We better be careful with this guy." Coach May to Coach Ferrell "Hell he better not get anything but off speed out of the zone." Coach Reynolds to both of us "Heck lets see what he can do." We had a 6'4 220 RHP that could bring it. Well Coach Reynolds calls FB in on the hands. The next thing I see is the ball going up in the air really high and really fast. It was 375' to the alleys and the ball left the park and cleared the parking lot behind the field in left and into the trees beyond the parking lot. It was over 500' easy. Coach May to Coach Reynolds "You think we have seen enough now?" Coach Reynolds "He missed his spot."

Luckily we went on to win 3-2. And luckily we had seen all we needed to see from Woody and he didnt get anything to hit the rest of the game. That has been several years ago but we still refer to a bomb hit by one of our guys as a "Woody Shot". We played Greene Central a couple of more times in the playoffs and every time we went to their place we would walk out to the other side of that parking lot and look back towards home plate and just glare in awe of just how far that kid hit that baseball. It was almost comical it was hit so far.
