Would like for some parents or players comment about the college game of softball and all the associated items: Coaches, practice, quality of instruction, time spent, good things you experienced and bad. Seniors, would U do it again?
Do not want names of coaches, programs, players, etc. just some comments about the overall experience of college athletics .

Heck let's open it up to all sports. I am sure there are tons of positive experiences and maybe some not so positive. Again leave school and names out so we are not bashing anyone.

I do know you don't have the quality of coaching at one D2 school that most travel teams have, this is very unfair to the kids.and the money the parents have to pay

    So far...

So far our experience with college softball has been okay! It has had some rough spots, but for the most part it has been a good experience!
I don't feel that the softball program was given the proper amount of attention that it should get!
I don't feel that the AD gave the Interim Head Coach the proper amount of support that they deserved! Which in turn I'm sure has affected the excellance of the job performance!
The workout schedule was pretty good in the beginning (extremely tough at times which is OK) but then slacked off ,more week by week, as the season wore on, the fall workout schedule was way more intense than the spring schedule. Seems to me that the in-season workout schedule should be tougher than fall season was. Should have been a gradual climb in progression of difficulty, same with practices.
I can only go on the opinions of the players, as far as practices and such go, and that has been, that practices have not been of very high quality instruction, leadership or knowledge! I'm not saying that the coach doesn't have any knowledge, I'm saying that according to the players, the coach does not know how to relay the knowledge, that they have, to the players! The coach does not yet know how to teach the knowledge that they pocess! Which is sad being that it is a college team. Players say that their travel ball team's practices were way more detailed and in depth than this.
I'm not by any means, bashing the Intrim Coach or the AD, just pointing out somethings that I think, would help make the softball program better.
All in All it has been WAY BETTER than the HS ball experience!! At least we are making progress in the proper direction and that is a GOOD THING!

I might get in trouble but I'm gonna say it.
I have a daughter playing at Elon.
Torn ACL before season started so is redshirted this year.
She would not trade her experience for the world.
They are a tight knit team. The players are together on and off the field.
They are friends and are a family. In the long run this makes them better people.
Ashlee had offers to play at bigger, more prestigious schools. She chose the path she is on and she still feels she made the right decision.
Many of her previous teammates are playing at the "Big" schools.
Sometimes there is not that comradarie there. It has been said thats its like a job. You go in, do what you got to, go your seperate ways.
If you have a daughter thinking about playing in the next level I suggest you discuss what she hopes to gain from the experience. What is really important to you. Can you join XYZ U and make an immediate impact? Are you willing to sit and wait until that upperclassman All American graduates? Way your choices carefully, there are benefits in every scenario. You just need to make sure you have a game plan and goal in mind.

    Great Post

I don't know why you would get in trouble for that post!
I couldn't agree more with what you said about the different scenarios! Everyone is different and everyone has to choose what experience, atmosphere they are most looking for!
