    JH Rose vs DH Conley

Cross town rivalry. Large, fun crowd and always an entertaining game.

    JH Rose 5
    DH Conley 1

    WP Mark Wilder
    LP Chase Hardee

Gray Garner hit an absolute scud out of center to make it 2-0. Tanner Merrit was at the plate when the lights went out, just after failing to get a bunt down. When lights finally came back up later, he takes it backside hard down the line for a triple and rbi. I must say that Wilder was strong last night and straight DEALT.

As listed in the article, a treat for ALL the fans was an at bat by Michael Garland of DHC(remember, all these kids have grown up together and even hang out together...but when the scoreboard's on....you know the story). During Spring Break, Michael was surfing and the skeg of his board sliced his thigh and femoral artery. He lost a tremendous amount of blood and medically speaking, there is no explaination for him to be alive, as a severd femoral artery will bleed out before it can clot. He was air lfted to Greenville. They repaired it and has rehabed and was great to see him at least stand in the box, when they said that 1). He was blessed to be alive 2). He at best would be out the rest of the season.

Anyway....Here's a link for the game. Power outage left us in dusk darkness for a while, but concession sales were brisk and lots of socializing going on. When the lights came back on, it was time to do work.....

Wow...now that would have been a great game to see. What an inspirational story involving Michael Garland. Thank you for sharing that.

Messer Carries South Caldwell to win over AC Reynolds 6 - 0

Just received an update from the South Caldwell at AC Reynolds game tonight. I was told game was a pitchers dual with both pitchers having outstanding games.

TJ Fussell for the Rocket's had 10 strikeouts and Jimmy Messer had 15. Messer was coming off a no-hitter against Freedom. ACR's pitcher had a perfect game going into the top of the 7th when Dibernardi hit a solo shot to put the Spartans on the scoreboard. In the same inning Jimmy Messer hit a Grand Slam to break the game open.

South goes to 18-1 on the year with their only loss being 1-0 to Watauga. South has now outscored opponents 165-13 on the season and are ranked #9 in the nation in latest USA Today poll. South's avg margin of victory is 8 runs per game.

Prior to today I believe AC Reynolds had beaten South at least once during the past 4 seasons. The Rockets always are a formidable opponent and play the Spartans as tough as anyone.

    McDowell 7
    Freedom 6

Tyler Hopkins with a walkoff two-run blast to win the game for the Titans. Considering McDowell has been beaten four times this season on a walkoff homerun, tonight was definitely payback.

Freedom scored two in their first at bat, McDowell answered with five runs. The Patriots got a run here and there including a run in the top of the 7th off an Andrew Martin base hit. Then the Titans got the leadoff runner on in the 7th, moved him up on the sac bunt. And then Hopkins rode one about 360 feet in left field for the game-winner.

    Ardrey Kell 8, South Meck 7 - 8 innings

South jumps out 5-0 lead before Kell catches them in the fourth and takes the lead in the fifth. Sabres comeback to tie it in the sixth as the played some free baseball.

AK scores an unearned run in the 8th. South gets two on with two out before Spence Shuey puts a charge into one out to center. But what looks like a walk off for the Sabres is tracked down and haul in at the fence by Ryan Stetson.

Win clinches SW4A title for the Knights.

    WP: Alex Wood 4-0
    LP: Jeff Barkley
    S: Jordan Darnell - 4

    Leading Hitters:
    AK
    Ryan Stetson 2-5
    Jack Reinheimer 2-5
    Brett Nyenhuis 1-3, HR

    SM
    Casey Gebhardt 2-4, 2B
    Caleb Cunningham 2-4, HR

    Records:
    AK 19-3, 12-1
    SM 9-14, 5-8
